I'm a Formula One fan, and this model immediately jumped out at me as soon as I knew of it's existence. Now it may not look like a typical F1 car, but this is a very famous Formula One racing car indeed. It's a streamlined version of the W196, as raced to World Championship victory by Juan Manuel Fangio in 1954 and 1955. So this model was a bit like Hot Wheels releasing a roughly 1/64 scale version of Lewis Hamilton's wheels.
It was streamlined for the fast race tracks with exceedingly long straights, such as Reims in France, Monza in Italy, and Silverstone in England.
As such I thought this would make a neat little five minute respray to spruce it up and add to my collection, but sure enough it wasn't that straightforward...
Hopefully this series will track my progress and aid me becoming a better modeller. There are plenty more videos to come and I have a big selection to choose from for future restorations. Please like and subscribe to be informed of new content first.
