Okay… the title is click bait but that is exactly what this video describes. JD Caputo goes over the 3 key elements you need to accomplish to win a fight.
1. Take away their ability to see
2. Take away their ability to breath
3. Take away their ability to walk
Would love to hear your feedback please comment below.

Very practical simple moves. Very well demonstrated. These situations happen a lot in real fights especially on the streets. It's all about leverage as demonstrated here in the vid. More power, guys! Pugay!

Although i'm not a fan of knife drills it was great to see you couldn't replicate the first technique, that demonstrates the ability to flow naturally without pre-set forms, so creating natural movement, very nice

Very good idea taking away vision, breathing and mobility! I'm familiar with taking away hands, especially when weapons are involved. If you immobilize hands most weapons can't be used against you. Hand to hand combat with immobilized hands is not likely to happen either. If you want to de-escalate the threat level, you promptly immobilize (destroy if needed) their hands. Together with the "vision, breathing,mobility" you now have an excellent model not only to win but also quickly de-escalate immediate threats that last beyond "knock outs wake ups".

Hey, Budo Brothers! Longtime To-Shin Do (Ninjutsu) practitioner here (studied since 2005). I appreciate this direct approach to principals that overlap with many other arts. There are some great examples of application in this short video. Also, I feel compelled to add that this is the EXACT same "Quicksilver" method that Terry Silver explains in Karate Kid 3. I'm almost disappointed that nobody else pointed that out by now in a 4 year old video. Keep up the great work.

Great and realistic approach to an unpredictable situation. Things to consider... martial arts training, in my experience, give you more confidence than actual realistic ways to get out of a situation; but confidence alone is the first line of defense. I can't tell you how often a fight doesn't escalate to punches just because your opponent can't sense your fear factor as he expects it. And also, if you're going to carry a knife know this: once you pull it out, it's because you're going to use it, so use it before someone uses it against you; otherwise keep in its holster until absolutely necessary. Also, go buy a raw pork leg or something meaty, put a layer of denim or leather jacket and practice cutting through it; not as easy as you'd think. And finally, when you cut someone's arm or shoulder, wherever in the body, they might go into shock by the sight of their own blood.....but then again so might you when you them bleeding. If they bounce back because of adrenaline rush, but you don't, you're dead. Once you inflict pain and your opponent is shaky, keep punching or cutting so they won't get up and take you down. But it's much better, much better to get the hell away from them as quickly as possible. Hurt someone enough and you'll be facing police investigators and potential lawsuits from family members. Think beyond the fight and the long list of reasons why you should train in deescalating situations rather than "neutralizing the threat", it's worth it.

I have never seen the two on one grip/arm tie in FMA, where can I find more historical evidence for this? Or is it mostly a modern approach?
@francesco7168
@francesco7168 5 жыл бұрын
Hi! Sorry this might not be historical evidence but I am from the Philippines and from my experience, we trained this movement as well, the principle of leverage is applied, forearm+bicep, being close to the opponent, equals control.

"how many fights have you ever seen where it went smooth?" Do you guys actually see a lot of fights? Who's starting them? Where? Why? I've lived in NYC since 1986. I lived for a long time in two of the most dangerous neighborhoods during their absolute worst periods (now it's safe.) I've never been attacked, and in all these years I've seen one serious fight up close. One. Outside of a club in 1992. Do you guys really see a lot of fights? I've trained in Aikido for 11 years. More recently I've wondered if too many fights are started by people who get into MMA training and get really pumped to use what they know. A lot of troubled, not very smart macho dudes who are real proud of themselves and starting problems and making the world an uglier place. Also; about the 2 knives in this video... In most U.S. communities, if you're not defending yourself at home, even if you're forced to defend yourself you'll likely still be charged for having carried the knife and you'll go to prison. So you had better be good at capturing the 1 knife from your attacker.

very nice however, i would like to point out that not every scenario calls for this, reserve this strategy for life or death or weapon v weapon scenarios. Even like this you better have a good lawyer, and pray you don't get legal repercussions especially in left leaning states in The US/countries like Canada/EU where self defense laws are backwards and favoring those criminals. but if you use this tactic in a street fight, or vs a bouncer, or a drunk or a homeless person attacking you, you are straight going to jail afterwards.
