My first ride on a Buell and it's the touring model. Possibly the best handling motorcycle I've ever rode. Thank you to its owner. Wahoo! Baxtercycle.com

My wife and I toured France Spain and Portugal, my wig said it was the most comfortable touring bike we ever had and we have had a few, I also toured Switzerland and Italy on it inc the alps Davos etc had the full luggage system Bagster harness and large bag K&N and open pipe great to work on and had the extra air intake to stop the fan coming on in hot weather a truly great bike with a great motor, completely trashed by the uk moto media who had no idea, Pete 🇫🇷

I own an 08, funnist all around bike I have ever rode on the street. The little extra suspension travel soaks up the rough rural back roads, and it still carves corners. Little boaty in a straight hard pull but it pulls hard and smears a smile across my face.

Had a 2 day test ride on the Buell XB12R Firebolt back in '03. Awesome for blasting round the mountain roads in Scotland!

It's basically the Harley Pan AM without the tech. I would like to ride Buell's new SuperTouring.

Me too.Waiting for 2025 when it hopefully appears.

It uses a highly modified Sportster 1200 engine. They’re hard to come by as their owners rarely part with them which should tell you something.

Beautiful motorcycle, for sure. Wahoo!

Thought it had the Austrian made Rotax motor?
@forgottenmotorcyclesАй бұрын
Not sure. Did try and google but info was thin. I know the early ones had the beefed up Sportster engine and the later ones the Rotax.

I see Buell is back with water-cooled V-twin & looks like a great bike.The Buell V-twin is 72° V-twin on the older models that didn't use the Harley Davidson motors is the best one to get.

I don't really know a lot about them. I was very impressed with this one. Amazing handling!
@bobwampler3387Ай бұрын
You said it wasn’t a Harley engine. It’s actually a modified Sportster engine. I had a Buell XB9SX.
@forgottenmotorcyclesАй бұрын
So, that's what I thought too. Owner said otherwise for the 1203 model. Did try and google it but info was thin. I know they did use the 90 hp sportster engine in some of them. Great fun to ride. Wahoo!
@bobwampler3387Ай бұрын
@@forgottenmotorcycles I think it would be still based on the Sportster engine, but maybe more removed?
@SargnortАй бұрын
@@bobwampler3387 Ive read they used different heads etc.
@bobwampler3387Ай бұрын
@@Sargnort I think that’s what modified means.

When Erik Buell changes pretty much EVERYTHING it’s no longer a “sportster” motor in my opinion. The Buell thunderstorm motor was never in a Harley.

At the time H-D shut down Buell, they were giving away bumper stickers, Screw it, let’s ride! I think that was H-D,s hypocrisy at its finest.

Harley Davidson was so stupid in shutting down Buell. Just one of their many stupid desions that they made.
