Starting up the Buell for the first time after a long hiatus, very loud and smokey! Testing gopro sound quality and taking it up on the downs for A quick blast making little madass look silly!
The Bike is A 2000 Buell X1 Lightning, limited edition No. 046 of 800

Sounds GREAT! James ord-hume, just to bad the "windshield"is blocking the view of the road. Then again, if I close my eyes it is still a beautiful engine to listen to :)

Buddy, are these bikes reliable? I have a buell xb and it has been mostly reliable, just a clutch and some tires

+Kenneth Rolls Good policy on aircooled bikes to warm up the oil so it flows freely and makes it up to the heads in enough volume to cool things down before you start dumping gas in it. I never thought of warming up as a carb vs FI thing, more of an air/oil vs water cooled.

I warm my Buell up too, but I also warm my liquid cooled bike.

If you don't warm them carefully (at least a few miles) they will leak oil from cyl base and possibly the rocker box joints.I have physically measured how much these engines 'grow' as they get warm. Possibly the same with Harley Fergusons too.
