Best altos out there both for tone, projection and slickness of the keywork. Mine is from 1929 and I love it to death. Have had it for 12 years. I play it with a Selmer Super Session E, a Vintage Berg HR 90 offset, and an old Riffault HR. Frankly however you can play it with almost any mpc but I prefer those that bring out the deep sweetness of its tonal palette.

I just bought a 1927 Buescher that looks and sounds pretty much identical to the one in this video. It's... sultry. Been 30+ years. Time to get down.

How much would you say is a good buy for one fully working, maybe a few small dings and good pads?

Is this a low pitch horn? Can you explain what the difference would be if not? I am looking at one for my nephew
@koegon4 жыл бұрын
Usually is! It's engraved close to the serial number, sometimes marked with "A L" as "alto" and "low pitch". Low pitch horns are tuned on 440hz, which is the modern way to tune instruments--I don't know how an instrument made differently would act. Hope this helped a bit

Hi Edward thanks for watching. I'm pretty sure I was using a Vandoren V16 5S standard model with a D'Addario Select Jazz 3S reed. Those old Bueschers are beautiful players! Cheers, Bob

Just got one. Does anybody know what that weird little tone hole is on the bottom left near the curve?
@ronhendon63815 жыл бұрын
Andy Benevides it’s often closed off since it has a weak spring trajectory and can leak. Was for Eb trill but you can put a big wine bottle type cork wedged between the key guard to hold it closed to prevent leaks. It’s non existent on modern saxes so you will never miss its use 👍

Andy, That tone hole, if it is adjusted correctly opens to give you a low Eb when you use the fingering 1 2 3 4 6. It's called the "Fork" Eb. Haven't seen it on any horn built since about 1940.

Big sound, bit too much vibrato for my taste but a great horn
