Coming from the military family that I did, I grew up hearing about the Buffalo Soldiers. My Dad was apart of the Triple Nickels, the first Black Paratroopers and like the Buffalo Soldiers, their stories too went untold. The stories of the Tuskegee Airmen and now the Red Tails have been told but there are more stories yet shared. Thank you for your works.

I served at Camp Clinton Greaves, DMZ Korea, 79 to 81 with 1st Bn, 9th Infantry (MANCHU). Cpl Greaves was one of the greatest Buffalo soldiers to ever live, earning the MOH! I am proud to have served at a camp named in his honor. Sadly, he died young, at just 51 from heart disease in Ohio. He lay in an unmarked grave for 92 years until the MOH Society heard about it, and placed a white Granite Govt marker on his grave. Keep Up the awesome work Sir, you do the Buffalo Soldiers proud by teaching children, especially black children, about the history of these incredibly brave, honorable men!

Naturally Speaking Karen That makes him a ISRAELITE from the mighty tribe of Judah! ALL PRAISES TO THE MOST HIGH!! Genesis 49:8-10 [8]Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee. [9]Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? [10]The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be. Deuteronomy 28:68 [68]And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.

My grandfather was a Buffalo Soldier. He served as one from the late 1800s through the early 1900's.When Brownsville Texas was all shot up involving the Buffalo Soldiers over a racial incident there,my grandfather was the one who helped train those calvary of men.Theree was an article in Ebony Magazine about this incident in the 1970's.

John Davenport I can't argue with that. Not only this country but all over the world since the beginning ppl have fought over land. So you're definitely right. I was using E/I when I made that comment. I don't like the fact that certain things are being celebrated, especially me being a black man and seeing my race aide the oppressors at that time to oppress another. But honestly whites weren't the only ppl in history doing that. I know history very well and know all about the battles that took place on every continent throughout history.

As a clarification, -- the indigenous peoples that were 'wiped-off-the-face-of-the-earth' were the ones in the Caribbean islands, after the invasion by the Spanish in the 1490s. In just 25 years, the indian 'slaves' that they "discovered" were practically decimated. That's why the Spanish had to find a new "labor source," and with the help of Portuguese human cargo industry (shipping industry) they "discovered" African people to import to the plantations and gold mines of 'Spanish America' (the Caribbean, Mexico, C. & S. America.)

The term buffalo soldier did not come about until the 1870s, which is after the Civil War. The African American men referred to as buffalo soldiers were given the opportunity to serve their country as professional soldiers during the peace time army. Please feel free to join us at one of our many buffalo soldier programs throughout the state.

Have they the same rights today ?... Or better ,for your view point, has the black people the same rights of the others ethnic groups (without considering the fact that all of them are American citizens) ? Forgive my ignorance about American history, but I don't know much about it, only what I could find in books or newspapers. I would like to know the opinon of common people.

Actually, most of the Buffalo soldiers volunteered to fight because they want to prove their patriotism to the whites. They wished the whites to see that they deserve their rights as citizens. In fact, it won't be until the Korean War and Vietnam War did the US military began to draft blacks.
