I love that they turned the Emperor into a proxy for Seymour - manipulating Tidus and Jecht against each other in order to steal power from Jecht, and developing a personal rivalry with Yuna over it.

Yuna being 10x more badass than Tidus... also Tidus is his canon name in this game.

@@kryten1992his name comes from the Ryukyu word "tiida," meaning sun. It's not based on the word tide and never was.

@@kryten1992 I mean, it's FF... we all know if they wanted a water-themed name, they wouldn't choose "a word that sounds like tide"... they would called him Tide... or even Water... maybe Aqua

The dissidia games finally solved the debate about Tidus' name. Everyone always saying it was "Ty-dus" and I remembering arguing with someone that his name is "Tee-dus" and these games settled it.

Technically it was earliest confirmed in a voiced cutscene in the Kingdom Hearts games, though of course it's debatable how valid those games are.

@@erinandalligators the problem with taking KH as "proof" is that they say "Tee-dus" on KH1 and "Tie-dus" on KH2, lol but is clearly Tee-dus... Duodecim, World of Final Fantasy, Dissidia NT, even the audio drama in the FFX HD remaster... everytime his name is said out loud is "Tee-dus", except for that one line in KH2 (that ppl still use to say that there's no official pronunciation, even though, was most likely a mistake from Selphie's VA)

Don't pay attention to the "FFX-3" audio drama then Where Tidus and Yuna break up and she gets piped by another guy. Also Tidus gets his head blown off by a bomb he thought was a blitzball.

I wish they never mentioned Tidus name, it just ruins the references in FFX

It's his default name in FFX if that's the case they should do the same and never mention Cloud or Firion's names either since the whole reason they never said Tidus's name is because the player could always change it at the beginning of any save.

I admit, it'd be pretty funny if his name was never said at all. Everyone should just say "that kid" or "him" over and over again.
