So in terms of iconic and groundbreaking shows that changed television forever it was All in the Family in the 70s, Hill Street Blues, The Cosby Show and Miami Vice in the 80s, Seinfeld in the early to mid 90s so I guess it'd be Buffy and Sopranos in the late 90s early 2000s?

Buffy is and was one of the best shows on TV. It appealed to me so much because of the fact that the show actually got better as the seasons progressed. Season 6 was one of the best in my opinion and the characters grew with the show and it showed them dealing with real life turmoils even when their lives were surrounded by demons and vampires etc. The episode "the body" was one of the best in my opinion.
@danathor9910 жыл бұрын
***** Agree with that, Angel was a far superior show, everything from the message, to the story lines (except for the Connor one) even the fight scenes... And I think Wesley's character development on Angel is the greatest of any character in TV history.
@Piggy_Piggerson9 жыл бұрын
***** "The show dropped substantially in quality after season 3, with the exception of 6." I strongly disagree. I thought season 5 was the best season of Buffy. Season 2 and 3, especially 2, had so many mediocre episodes. Season 1 is comfortably the worst season.
@Charizarzar9 жыл бұрын
Sam Heald I used to think the high school seasons were the best, but I've come to appreciate the later ones more. (With the exception of 7 which I'll always hate). Season 4 doesn't have a good main story arc but it has so many of the great independent episodes that it's one of my favourites. (Hush, Something Blue, Fear, Itself etc) Plus I was personally glad to see the back of all the Angel melodrama. Season 1 has one of the most iconic villains but it's probably my second least favourite. 2 at least had Spike and Dru to make it entertaining. 5 is also a brilliant season and the Glory storyline is more interesting than the Initiative one from S4. I also like Dawn even though that's an unpopular opinion. One of the best twists ever.
@Piggy_Piggerson9 жыл бұрын
Charizarzar Oh wow, I'm also one of few that likes Dawn :) I mean, she isn't my favourite, and she can be grating and used as a bad plot device in some individual episodes (like Wrecked), but I still overall appreciate her character a lot. I can actually relate to her in a lot of ways.
@Knappa229 жыл бұрын
***** I liked season 6 too though I'm not sure the nerd trio made a good group of villains. Season 2 is the best ever though - the whole Angel/Buffy development took my breath away every week. The inclusion of Tara (boring) and Dawn (very irritating) in the latter seasons did not improve the show.

Not only did JW create the most amazing series, but he selected the best crop of young actors he could have picked to honor his vision. They believed in their characters so much, worked so hard to bring them to life in ways we would relate to them and root for them, care for them, invest in them, even be heartbroken by them. This series is legendary. It changed television, really. And it warms my heart how classy and uplifting they all are of one another on the set.

Alyson actually did an interview on Watch What Happens Live and she talked about how SMG was kinda over it after 3 seasons.. or something along those lines. It made me sad to watch. Look it up on here.
@Chewbecca10110 жыл бұрын
I think the comment was that SMG was over the comic con fan craze. She never really got into all that. Plus, she worked nearly twice as long as the rest of the cast and she was exhausted. I think she truly loved the cast and being on the show- it was just easier for the rest of them to do their job and make appearances and she was stuck on set all the time. I can recall her saying in an interview that she would likely never do an hour long series again, because she wanted a family and a life, lol.
@loganb92189 жыл бұрын
Yeah it wasn't that she was "over it", but that she was just worn out by it. Exhausted. And as much as I love the show, at least it ended while it was still on a high instead of dragging out till it died.
@subutaynoyan53725 жыл бұрын
@@DustinGuillotte SMG is was more frustrated of how overwhelming this show had been in her career and life. She was the most intermixed member of the cast, with the show. She knew a lot, Joss shared a lot of his ideas with her and all. If you follow her in real life, she is a bit easygoing, not someone who'd constantly try to live up to a certain role. After about season 4, her acting became a bit dry, save for necessary, deep episodes like The Body(I think it was her best performance in the show) and the show was tired near the end. Still, best television series ever, and of the best examples of modern fiction.

I was so upset in season 7 i believe. When Spike got his soul and went crazy. I loved him SO MUCH as a character! He is my favorite so matter what lol. His past is so sad, even before we was a vamp like when he wrote poetry and told that girl he was in love with her. Then she told him how she REALLY DIDNT love him back. Sound familiar? He also confessed his love to Buffy and she called him awful names and yelled at him. I felt so bad for him! He started on the show as a vampire who wanted to get Angelus back on their side to destroy the world or whatever. But eventually, he joins the Scoobies and they slay monsters. He became a better person over time and he fell for Buffy. He wanted to be better for her and he genuinely cared for her. He went to get his soul back for her! And suffered for her!! So, when she calls him disgusting it really hurts me because I know how much he truly loves her. He's been there threw so much and its sad to see. This is also why I like Spuffy more that Bangel. Angel lost his soul and wanted to kill her and he LIKED it. He was only good to her when he had a soul. Spike loved her before he got his soul back. He only got his soul back for Buffy bc he thought she wanted that.

BTVS, one of the most iconic shows ive ever encountered. I own all seven season on dvd. I have almost all of the comics and the monster guides. I even have the Angel episodes with Buffy in them. Buffy for me, when i was kid was one of the most fascinating shows of its time. When everyone my age was watching cartoon network, zoe 101 and that's so raven i was stuck on Buffy from reruns. I watched the reruns in the morning before school and in the afternoon after school. I remember getting the first three season on dvd for christmas and finally watched every episode in order, after that i got the last four. I loved it. I actually didnt know it was over until i finished the 6th season and Googled it. The show was so ahead of its time that it didnt feel like 2003 when i watched it. It felt like 2006 like the time i was watching it. My favorite seasons are the High School Season because at that time i was starting to relate to them. I rewatch them now and realize the later seasons are just as good in their own ways. I really liked Cordelia, i feel like she was so me and then during school i would talk like her and people would always make fun of me and be like you're so valley and i was like, duh. Buffy is timeless and the drama was real and the scares were effortless and the tones were majestic and everything even the low budget scenes were still quality. BTVS forever.

I wish Buffy had more recognition from the Emmys. I think an administrative error prevented 'Once More, With Feeling' from being nominated. What you have to understand about the Emmys though is it's not like the Oscars. Once you get nominated at the Emmys you have a level playing field and every nominee is judged on their respective area. Take for instance the year Christoph Beck won a scoring Emmy for 'Becoming, Part 2'. He had to submit his score for the episode on manuscript paper and the music branch of the television academy had to carefully judge it along with his fellow nominees. At the Oscars that doesn't happen partly because the judging has to be over two weeks not a couple of months

What is amazing is that I had seen the movie, but was turned on to the show by my then 67 year old father. While the WB might have been going for a youth audience, this show transcended that. I watched my first episode at 38 and was quickly hooked. Interestingly while I very much like the Buffy character, she was way down on my list. Spike and Anya vie for #1, Willow and Xander for #2, and then Buffy and Giles for #3.

Don't get all the hatred towards Dawn. Michelle Trachtenberg was a good addition to the show. Buffy's mom couldn't be around for too long because that would have been weird so in comes Dawn. I loved her relationship with Buffy and the protective side she brought out in Spike and her relationship with Xander, Willow and Tara. To think that she was only 14 years old and handled herself so well.
@BTTFMovie7 жыл бұрын
It's mostly because Dawn's a character people love to hate. She was kinda designed to be annoying to people. What I always thought was interesting about her was that when she first appeared on the show, it felt like she was a bad "original character" that a fanfiction writer creates that's clearly a self-insert, given the fact that she's the protagonist's sister, she shows up out of nowhere, people familiar with the show have no idea who she is, etc. I think Joss Whedon may have been taking a stab at fanfic writers when creating Dawn.

I completely agree. I feel like people do forget that, at the end of the day, Dawn's character is still just a child. You can see that she is just very lonely and emotionally neglected. Any person who has an intelligent older sibling can relate to feeling overshadowed, least of all one who's a vampire slayer. The fact that she is so sheltered and prevented from growing up means Dawn has no choice to behave like a child.
@kalijohnston5615 жыл бұрын

Even though I will agree with you that there needed to be a proper ending for Angel, I think that the way they ended it was fitting to the character. That he will keep fighting forever. Because let's face it, even if he killed all the demons, all the vampires and all the monsters, even Spike, there would still be one alive. Himself. So his crusade is neverending, and that's why the ending to his series was fitting.

Every time they say high school is like a horror movie, I can't even imagine that. I started a business in 10th grade, knew most of the people in the school, and had a pretty entertaining life outside school. I can't relate, but witnessed it being that way for alot of my classmates at the time.

I can't believe I didn't watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer for awhile because the girl who played Buffy wasn't the original. smh I LOVE Sarah Michelle Geller - from the first episode to the last. (my sister talked me into watching) I didn't see it from the beginning, but caught it on reruns. Yay!!
