Buford High School competed in the GHSA's smallest classification, 1A, for over 50 years before moving up to Class 2A in 2002, 3A in 2012, 4A in 2014, 5A in 2016, 6A in 2020, and 7A (the state's largest classification) in 2022. The majority of Buford's 59 state titles were won during that same 20-year span.

Was it recruiting elite high school athletes? Here's the story behind Buford High School's drive to be the best. Presented by Northeast Georgia Physicians Group.
