You actually showing that you know how to use your gear goes a long was. I am new to the prepping community and this definitely helps.

I really enjoyed your video, but I know that’s different than most other ones I’ve seen and I’ve seen a lot, is that you show small clips of you using some of your gear. That is something you don’t see too often great job thank you.

Good video, pretty well thought out. Just a couple things. I carry a Sawyer Mini myself, instead of carrying the bladder that comes with it, I carry two empty Smart Water bottles, they weigh next to nothing, one has with the flip up lid. One for dirty water and one for clean, easier to fill from a stream, wrap a piece of cloth over the mouth to keep out solids, and the filter screws right to the neck of the bottle. I then filter dirty water from that container into the clean water container, and any additional water containers I have. I have been asked why the Smart Water bottles, first off I keep them both full to start with, fresh bought, unopened, then when that water is used, I mark the dirty container and am ready to start filtering. When using them, the clean bottle can also be used to back flush your Sawyer filter, thus saving having to carry the syringe for flushing, I have had the bags burst, and or leak around the neck when squeezing to filter water, but the bottles are stronger and last longer, this from experience. I didn't see any medical tape in you IFAK, also I would add an ACE bandage and some moleskin, blisters and sprained ankles are more apt to happen when carrying a load and trying to traverse rough terrain, while hiking long distances. I am sure you have them in the kit, but a variety of ordinary band aids, I find I get small cuts and scratched more than major wounds when out hiking. A tube of antibiotic ointment, as well as a small bottle of eye wash, I have more than once had a pesky moisture hunting gnat end up in my eye. Have to think of longer range since bugging out is more than a day hike where you can just turn around and head home if something like that happens. I carry a couple 55 gallon contractors garbage bags, they can be filled with leaves, pine needles, grasses, etc, and used as bedding and insulation from the ground, also as emergency rain covering, cut open for covering shelter, even to use to crawl into in cold, wet weather to keep yourself warmer. Also, I have a few Ziplock bags for using to carry wild edibles found along the way, or dry tinder supplies, also to waterproof items in my bag that might need protection. I field strip things like batteries out of their packaging and vacuum seal them, as well as anything else I might be able to do that with which saves on space and weight from original packaging. One tip, in cold weather, carry your Sawyer Mini in a Ziplock bag tucked inside your coat next to your body, when you use one you can never get all the water out of the filter, and if left in a pack or outside pack pocket, it can (and I have had it happen...only once) freeze and ruin your filter. The body heat keeps it from freezing, and the bag keeps it from soaking your clothing. I like your redundancy with the water purification tablets, as well as matches, lighter and ferro rod, and a fire kit, always good to have multiple ways to start fires, which also gives you and additional way to purify water. Goggles are a really good idea, most people don't think of something like that. Two compasses, some people would question that, I carry two also, when you are lost, and if you spend any amount of time in backwoods areas, you will become lost, or if you prefer, confused. When you use a compass, there are times when you will question it, you will think you should be heading one way and the compass is showing a different direction, it is easy to doubt your compass when you are positive you are right. One compass could go bad, not very likely with a quality compass, but if both compasses say the same thing, it is you and not the compass that is off. Use one to check the other, and as a backup. All in all I think you have a pretty good setup, and have thought out what you want and need, my suggestions above are not meant to be critical, they are just from over almost 60 years of experience in the outdoors, what I have found to work. One thing for sure, as time goes by things change, when I started I was using Boy Scout gear and also WWII and Korean Era military surplus gear, as time has gone by many improvements and some not so improved items have come along. My first outdoor cutting tools were my Cub Scout pocket knife, and a really old, old as in turn of the century, butcher knife with a homemade sheath made from leather from an old pair of work boots. I still have that knife all these years later, so people can improvise if need be and are worried about not having the money for top of the line gear. Knowledge above all else. I remember someone showing me a hollow handle survival knife back in the late 60s, it looked like the cats backside, the answer to a lot of needs. It was a piece of junk that broke on it's first use, and they still sell crap like that and people still buy them, but at least now people like yourself post videos showing better gear, and give people a place to learn, and share. Enjoyed what you have to share, keep up the good work, and I hope my critique isn't taken as a slam, not meant to be, far from it.

Having tried out 4 different 72 hour bug out bag set ups 5 times in really lousy and cold weather , I suggest everyone get the eye opening experience before deciding to bug OUT . Excellent video T-Roy . Thanks and all the best .

Great video mate, there's a few major things that I think you'll value from. With your quick clot powder, ditch that and replace with packing gauze, if your bleeding or have someone who's bleeding the blood will push it out and is not as effective as packing gauze, and also please please please take your torniquet out the package, when stress levels are high you'll be fumbling around with the packaging and if your hands are covered in blood itll be near impossible to open it. SECONDS = LIFE, keep the content going mate 👍

Dude big respect for showing off some of your items while using it on the field. Many youtubers show of dozens of items but never show how to use them. I live in Belgium we cannot just go in to the forest with a knife or axe. Cut something and make a fire. Everything is illegal here. But i made a very nice bug out bag for my self.

T-Roy.... cool kit. Looks like you have most of your needs covered. I'd suggest a sleeping pad. Ifn the ground is frozen or wet or you're trying to sleep on a concrete floor, it can be pretty uncomfortable!! Keep your tail up off the ground, if at all possible. Nice kit. Best wishes....... Ax.

Great video - thank you - love my self reliance outfitter canteen bottle cook kit - I think you made a great choice. You might consider staging your tourniquet - don't need to fiddle with plastic when there's arterial bleeding.

Big reason is if you ever have to travel at night in the woods. An eye injury from a branch could be devastating, depending on the situation you’re in.

The best BOB video I've watched. I'm new to prepping and been watching a lot of videos for kit ideas and bag choices. Only disappointment was not finding affiliate links to your chosen items to be able to support your channel or mentioning manufacturers. I 2nd other comments about you actually showing how to use what you carry. Only items I didn't see much of was alert/communication gear (other than radio), i.e. mirror, whistle.

I’ve watched about the orca bag and really like it but I’ve never seen you tote any socks with you and you can buy a cheap vacuum sealer to help you save some room and help you to keep things dry just a couple of ideas but I like the videos!!!

Great idea on the water bottle kit with the key to the city 4 way chuck, I can see putting iodine tabs , life straw, filters. I have 2 of those round molle pouches and now I know what to use the other for. My first is my firekit pouch

Good video, I have a lot of the same gear. Doubling up on some things is not a bad idea. I noticed that as I was making my EDC, GHB, and BOB. You tend to accumulate a lot of stuff trying to perfect it. I also like that you give some demonstrations of some of the gear. I did want to know where you purchased your radio from. I am missing that. But good video. Very informative. Thanks for the info. 👍

Great video bro! Totally forgot to add nail clippers and toothpaste. It's the little things. If I can suggest something, you said your not on medication. I'd recommend going to any doctor and asking for antibiotics like amoxicillin. Just in case of any deep wounds. Online doctors do it for like 30 bucks. Good job on the prices. Everyone goes for the expensive, you just use the off brand which is just as good. Just subscribed.

Nice job, another idea for making a bed of leaves is carry at least 2 thick 55gal drum liners for stuffing leaves. And can be used for other things as well, just a suggestion, and dry socks also,again suggestions I’m not knocking your bag at all

So. If you removed the pouches or bags you VM keep everything I would bet you’d lose 5lbs, bringing your pack down to 23lbs. On a long walk/hike losing those 5lbs would a big help.

Just a suggestion, but you should take the Cat-T and take it out of the wrapper and open it up to the largest limb, that way it is ready when needed and no fumbling around when seconds count and maybe add one more. Great Vid.

I'll admit I am relatively new to the bug out bag world, but not new to being prepared. What about signaling gear? Maybe a mirror, bicycle innertube (makes a ton of smoke in signal fire and is very compact) road flares, maybe a VS17 panel, roll of vinyl ribbon tape to mark your location if moving . I understand the concept of "Bug Out" but as long as you have it with you all the time, why not make a small investment in case your vehicle goes down or some how get removed from your typical environment (bad storm catches you off guard) and need to get attention, or emergency services. Not every "bug out" situation comes from Red Dawn.

8:00 ...What is the brand on that Canteen , cup , stove kit (is it a D.Canterbury Pathfinder set ??) 14:30... I use the BarBQ fire cubes for my fire starting kit...cost pennies per package of 12 . 17:33...that is awesome....I never see the Pacing beads much, on youtube. I use them daily, to figure out where my buried resupply caches are, and to map out my booby traps / trip lines around camp. 15:30 ...have you thought of using the DIY JUNGLE KNOTS for your Tarp / Tent set up ?? Works really good. ****************************** I might of missed it..but I didn't see any trail marking tape..I like this for marking my poop station away from camp, and the trails , i explore away from camp. I just got the 37 liter 5.11Rush 24; 2.0,, for a bug out bag. Still stocking up gear for it..but I love the bag , so far.

2 tarps? Maybe pass on the hammock n rain fly. Add something to keep warm. Light weight sleeping bag, fleece, puffy jacket, long johns etc.

I'm wondering what liter size your bag is - the 40 or the smaller one? In my experience most of the cheaper priced tactical bags are just no large enough to carry all that you need, especially if you live in the northern states. I see so many preppers with little "3 day bags" thinking they are all set for any situation, when I know as a fact they are not. What happens when the temps at night get down in the 20's or 30's? What about carrying extra clothing? Wool? Puffy jackets? It seems like most preppers never address these colder season needs. It would be great to see some posts dealing with cold weather bugout, but not necessarily winter. Thanks for you excellent material and great "real world" situations presented.

all in all good but your med kit need serious work. You need more than 1 TQ and they need to be opened up and properly staged because with the waybthat one was if you really needed it you would be gone before you got it on under stress. Clotting powder just flat doesn't work get either Chitogauze or quickclot either the LE version or Combat version. you need 2 or so packs of compressed gauze 4yds long, twin pack of hyfin chest seals, a 4 or 6 inch elastic bandage for a secondary pressure bandage, butterfly strips, for wilderness outdoor stuff a sam splint also used with the elastic bandage, eye shield put pull tabs on stuff to tear it quickly with more purchase area add duck tape and good 2 or 3 inch med tape. And above all take a medical class stop the bleed at a minimum. The first time you break stuff out should not be when you need it. Organize the pouch with booboo and otc meds in the front flap pouch, chest seals tape and stuff on back side and all your bleed gear in the front side. be deliberate when you pack it and one of you TQs need to be immediately accessible with both hands while wearing the pack. When you need a TQ you need it that second you don't and will not have time to fish it out and get it out of plastic. I know they're expensive but replace them every 5 years ir so especially the one outside exposed to the elements and make sure you only buy TCCC approved ones ie NAR CAT, Tacmed Sof T, Sam

Great pack! Similar to my own. You ever consider a roll of electrical tape? I keep a roll in my pack. I've used it to tie shelters. Works real fast. It would be great as a tourniquet. Tying things up. Marking trails/paths (collared tape). Stuff like that.

Pretty good kit, but you may want to look at a bag that looks a little more normal to avoid being targeted. Additionally, you should replace the quick lot powder with some combat gauze as the powder is much harder for the surgeons to clear out and not as effective, you should also probably carry some more gauze, some chest seals and more than one tourniquet.

Good kit, I would change up medical supplies, IMO its better to have trauma kit (shears, TQ, Israeli bandages) seperate from basic medical supplies (meds, band aids, moleskin). What is your battery life like on your baofeng?

Great video. I just completed my bug out bag. One thing about some of the survival items that I am concerned about is: Starting a fire could alert other people of your location. When people get hungry they will get crazy. Your emergency shelter. How would you keep bugs and other small animals away as well as a heavy rain? I wonder if it would help if I did a "mock" survival situation. I have been a prepper for only just over 2 years, so jsut asking. Thanks.
