Buggy Panels using DZUS Quarter Turn Fasteners

Part 25 of my budget rockcrawler buggy build, In this video I begin cutting out aluminum sheet metal panels. I explain how I used DZUS quarter turn fasteners for the side panel, and show how I mount them.

Yeah, its a slow process for sure, but the Sheet metal starts to give it that look, that the end is not too far off!

Where do you buy your aluminum sheets? I checked in the Delta area and they only had the the .060" and thicker. I'm looking for something in the .030 to .040 range. I might have to look in Grand Junction.

Recla metal in Montrose had a bunch in stock, their prices are not bad considering how much everything is going up. It’s like $200 a sheet for .060.

sir i watched your video but i need help..im useing 065 aluminum on my home built x3 cage..how did you get the curve on the front of the roof..

To get the curve on the front, I had to take it to a friends shop, he used a press brake to bend lines every inch or so. There are two ways to get your mark on the aluminum, 1 is with a marker, two is using a dzus specific point, that drops in the tab, and will leave a mark on the aluminum if you tap it with a light hammer.

i see the point tool i just ordered it ..great info..im a littke afraid to bend my roof i dont know where to start..your video is very helpfull.my aluminum is 065.do i just use a 7/16 dri or step drill

I just used a regular drill bit.
