Description: pt 3 This final part is going to show the exact timing marks and positions of sprockets for chain installation.
Including toque specs for relevant components removed. As an added measure, I have applied loc tite to fasteners that are subjected to resonant vibrations or articulation.

I just wanted to say thanks for your excellent video. I just completed a FWD timing chain replacement on a 2007 Saturn Aura 3.6 DOHC. Everyone said the engine had to be removed on a front wheel drive application. When I saw your video, I knew it could be done in the car. It saved me anywhere from $1500 to $3000 to have a mechanic do the job. Plus, I know it was done right and wasn't a hack job.

Thanks for the excellent review, I was going for cost effective and non-invasive as possible. With an oem quality repair. The one attn. getter was to not smear the silicone down in the back lower corner near the power steering pump. (Close quarters with the body) I suppose if the silicone could be applied to the block instead there, or some sawed off bolts to act as guides for the cover. (But clear the chain and guide there with cover) A side-note would be to go ahead and install a new water pump as well. This one failed less than 6 months later I think.

What are some of the symptoms. My Buick lacrosse makes a loose belt noise when I accelerate when cold but goes away when the car heats up. Today it gave me a p0011 code( intake camshaft) I just want to know was that sound a symptom of a camshaft going bad? Or was that something different?

You didnt have to use the camshaft retention tools that Chilton recommends?

+Sean Tisdale Everything I used is shown in the video, I circumvent using special tools if it can be done with a reasonable safety margin. ie (not causing damage to critical parts or self) One, to save money and another reason, so as not to fall into the special tool click that is developing to service usually only one specific engine in a specific date of manufacture. By spending several hundred dollars on special tools just isn't feasible, unless you specialize in doing just that 1 model, and several of them to recover the cost of the tools.
