The easiest and best way I've found to build a backyard skating rink. I use 4" PVC pipe and a 6 mil liner...a little bit of foam used to make the pipes level and all that's required is water and some cold weather. One of the things I like about this technique is that after a few snowfalls you don't even see the structure and it just looks like a natural rink in your yard.
This rink is 28' x 58' and the liner I purchased is 32' x 65' ... if I'm off by a foot or two on the rink dimensions it is because I am going by memory and I've been using the same pipes since my first time using this technique (more than 10 years ago).
I wish I could re-use the liner but I tried that twice and it ended up with more headaches and work than I wanted. I guess you need to balance the cost/waste of a new liner vs the wasted water and time dealing with (trying to patch) a leaky liner. I do end up using the old liner in various ways throughout the summer (as drop cloth etc).
