This was such an amazing video, I loved it. I really hope people do see the vast opportunities of building amazing houses in rural areas, it is even much easier to get the land if your ancestors have been known to stay there for years. The culture of building beautiful houses in the village must grow and prosper, we must build if possible those mansions they build in urban areas here at rurals.

looking at this house, 150k is actually little because builders also have to pay their helpers. I feel as though builders in the rural areas are exploited to an extend. you are paying for someones skill and experience and you also want quality, so why not pay them what they are worth.

Not really. This is actually the true cost of the house. Urban areas have inflated the price so much that this is shocking. Even building materials in the village is not as expensive as big Corp ones. My uncle had a brick making business and 1 brick was a fraction of what it costs in town.

There is no such. People want quality but aren't willing to pay for it. How can a big house like this cost 150k only ? So after the project, the builder must be left with almost nothing? Like i said ,you are paying for someone's skill, time, and experience. Omakhi emakhaya are exploited . Umakhi should have atleast charged 250k.

I like the fact that she built it using her own money. Getting a loan these days is not a good idea because of high interest rates. Do you perhaps have more details on how to save up and build a house using your own money?. I recently acquired land and don't know where to start.

thank you so much for these videos, me and my husband have been following you and we were truly inspired, as a result we have bought a plot, i say bought because unfortunately people should also know that in some areas plots are not only acquired but bought, especially if you are interested in rural living but also want close proximity to schools and work, those plots in some area costs alot, we paid R150 000 for a land 50m x120, which was steep but definitely worth it, if you really want your own land away from expensive living housing costs and also reasonable space, still way cheaper compared to the city/suburb i must say

Bravo. I totally recommend making a compound for kids n grandkids. At this climate house rent n salary. Theres no way your kids can pay rent. Its so imbalance with income. Made for FDI air bnb and millionaires only.Not for habitation not for middle income to effort to rent not for working class. Build living spaces for your kids. Cos they could be homeless or live in your basement with the pay structure relative to rent now.

Yes you can acquire land anywhere as long as you are South African. Please do try. I am not sure what will be a fee to a chief but I don’t think it will be different than what is required . 🙏🏾❤️

I am not sure what you mean about laws on solar power” but Solar power has been used by choice by so many in SA and it’s happening even right now. Those who can afford use it. Actually the government is encouraging everyone to take that direction. I guess every country has its problems. How is your country?

@@VelileLifestyleDecorTV We have a bit of regulation on solar, typical African red tape. But there is also encouragement through selling power to the grid and bylaws 'forcing' people to put solar water heaters on their roofs to take a bit of stress off the grid.

From my judgment, some of these people who build such houses in rural SA (Eastern Cape) come work in Cape Town where they live for free in those squatter camps (Samora, etc.) where they don't pay for water, electricity and rates. They just claim land without paying a cent to the municipalities.

Labour costs are not based on square meters. That’s the reason why the house was completed at a cost of R400k. Get locally-based experienced building contractor.

To start, she used blocks for super structure, so that makes a big difference in cost to build.. Yes it is possible to build at that cost.. I assume this is just the shell of the house, no finishing, cupboards, kitchen, appliances, tiles and stuff like that..

Hi do you really own your land other there ?, like do you have to pay tax or council rates? Because in the western world there is no freedom like your house and land literally can get taking away from you if you don't pay ur taxes/rates even tho you own it.... Which is so sad. So I just want to know how it works in south Africa, is it the same or does it depend where you live?. And what about people who live in the village, how does getting land go with them. As I would love to live off grid in a village and be natural.

Yes to owning land, no to paying tax but we pay once off Levies to the municipality. We pay for electricity and find our way to access to water and proper sanitation system hence we build boreholes and construct septic tanks. Land is tribal land and belongs to the people who are originally from these areas. It is not open to foreigners so you might have to pay a lot of money to purchase land in the country side in SA. No one can take the land away. South Africa is different from the Western world and truly we don’t want to be like the Western world for many reasons.
