dude, I have questions. I have rasberry pi and made a large hydroponic and greenhouse, 8x8 meters. Where did you get all the sensors? Is this all open source that I can use these? I am just starting up and had a lot of failures on the way including getting very sick. I am hoping to get things working.

People like Kyle make this possible by sharing the kind of detail he does. That's what blows me away. Anyway, Thanks Kyle! Amazing!

A lot has changed since I was a kid. When I was a kid, all of this was at most, just imagination. Heck, smartphones weren't even a thing when I was a kid. I can't even begin to imagine what it's like for people who are 80-90 years old. The world of their childhood is long dead and gone. Unlike a lot of the older generation, I'm totally for automation and technology. It can really be a huge benefit to humanity, however, I also believe that the old ways of farming should remain, even if just to preserve crop variety.

after watching this i’ve had the most insane realization my dad, who passed a few years ago, was pretty open with me about him being a complete stoner a couple years before he passed. it was cool ya know whatever. but he grew his own stuff hydroponically( something he had done before i was born). and looking at what he did for work and how it’s 100% translated on how and where to get the material to build a hydroponic system. i’m considering upscaling this idea for a 6x8x7ft greenhouse in my garden. i live in a 8b/9a zone and this year will have 306 days in between frost(crazy on it’s own). i’ve always struggled growing greens in my yard because of my amount of sunlight and downright intense uv. i’ve done more to use high growing plants to help shade my bed but a greenhouse kept hydroponic would be amazing

Macro auto system on a micro level. They be the most expensive lettuce I have ever seen. Nice work. If you want to be a master designer reduce the cost & complexity to 10% of this & create a system that those who don't have the resources or funds you have access to can build. "A master designer can do for 10 cents what costs all others 1$" My dad, 7 design awards, 33 design patents. Food for thought.
@Kyle.Gabriel
@Kyle.Gabriel 2 жыл бұрын
It did only cost me 10%. Also, if I reduce the complexity 90%, then it's just another generic video like hundreds of others on youtube. I'm showing how you can use a multitude of skills and automation applications for a prototype that can be easily scaled. >most expensive lettuce It does grow more than one harvest. But you're right, and that's why these varieties of lettuce are some of the most expensive you'll find in the grocery store.

@@Kyle.Gabriel Fair point. I agree with your motive. If people stop watching tv & learn something. Its truly amazing what can be achieved. Point proven. The new generation of LED horticultural lighting makes it possible to create micro food production in virtually any environment with low power consumption, less material waste ( hid globes that can contain mercury & are done after 5000 hours average) & high quality results due to better PAR light spectrum. Not only that they last 10 times longer. It is a real game changer. Raspberry pi is one of the best computer system learning tools ever created. Creative & fun Lettuce are a great way to start. Fast results & are not light hungry. 100 watt quantum board with quality LED is plenty for 3 X 3 ft grow space. Double that wattage & you can grow anything you like. Cheers

Wow, that is exactly my kind of gardening! I got into hydroponics due to my interest in tech (3D printing, automation, arduino etc.) and gardening. That's one awesome system!

Amazing level of detail. By far the best video I’ve seen of a hydroponic system.
