Nice work, and glad you liked the sidewalls. I’ve found them best at the exit to the turns, as it keeps the cars on track. All my designs are currently done in blender but I liked that simple extrude shape along a path you showed. Used fusion for a short time a few years back and may look into it again. Might also look into one of those creality printers as well as my current printer only does 150mm max so it’s too small for track pieces like that. Liked your idea for the thin inserts to add the grooves. Definitely one of the trickier things to do on custom tracks.

Thanks Mr. Watson. It makes me happy that you found the video useful. I'll make a little video with how I approach designing track in Fusion 360 with more detail. I'm thinking that having a downloadable svg file that shows the dimensions of my track that can be imported into Fusion 360 might be a great way to let people explore designing track pieces without having to troubleshoot all the measuring. Keep up the great work and happy holidays!

hello friend, greetings again, in the wide part where the jump is I recommend you make a ramp that receives the cars of the jump, since not having shock absorbers, they bounce a lot and the number of perfect shots is reduced and so the cars should complete the circuit For my part, I congratulate you for making the 3d prints and I hope you can distribute them worldwide, it is a tradition that I want to recover and that both young people and adults enjoy the competition and I would like you to participate in the competition that you are going to inaugurate with an official vehicle from the Moplotrack channel

SUGGESTION: use velcro to hold down your tracks it has a suspension effect, allows the track to shake without moving.. you can use staples on the wood and the stickers on the tracks.. and easy to replace tracks.. On the coroplast sliding issue you can use some spray (very light spread cover) to give more grip or , make some fin stripes using tape painting very thick layers.. you can use polish to maintain the track colour .. I hope it helps

Found your channel recently and oh boy, we re started the car racing again. I Need to delve deeper in fusion 360, I been using the magtrack connectors I 3d printed back to back a few years back and yes coroplast is slippery I may try spraying some plastidip maybe to get some extra traction but I don't thing it will last that long. I need to add my remixed to thingieverse.

You could also print in TPU,... tha would give you flexibility and it still would be stiff enough to use... sorta like original hot wheels track... and you can set the firmness by changing the number of walls and/or infill

Instead of grooves, try 6 recessed impressions, the track profile would be like an analog wave instead of the digital wave you have. No harsh edges but still persuasive to keep the cars straight.

Great video and the 3D printing but was good. I have ender3 pro and used it for various track side objects,buildings and mini people…but I always wished to be able to design my own track parts to suit my track design. But finding time to master fusion seemed too hard, on top of building, landscaping, racing, filming and editing. I never made a video untill a short while ago so I am had to learn to do that to amateur level. Plus learning 2’ed printing and slicing it got put into til the too hard basket. Maybe it’s time to revisit that option…so please do make fusion tutorial please! Good video and it’s great to have fun with the kids…priceless

First off, you do great work on your channel. Keep em coming! Thanks so much for the comment. It is overwhelming at times with all the stuff to try to learn/master. About a year ago I tried learning Fusion 360 and made some good progress, but then I got distracted. Coming back to it, it made a lot more sense this time. I'm not a master at Fusion 360 yet, but the good news is that making track isn't too complicated. I'm happy to make a tutorial on how I approach it. I've had a lot of fun racing with the kids. Time goes so fast that I'm just trying to make the most of it with them. Thanks for watching the video and engaging in it!

The best printed part in my opinion for die cast racing would be 180% turns to connect to the super six lane raceway, sold in a two pack consisting of two six lane turns in opposite turning directions of each other to equal out lane length by the end of the race. I assume this piece probably isn't possible with many printers as the size is on the larger side but damn would a parts set like that sell well, in fact I'm kind of surprised hot wheels themselves haven't produced an add on set for the six lane yet.
@spoolheads
@spoolheads 2 жыл бұрын
That's an interesting part to consider. I think you are right about the size of 3D printers being an issue. Might need to print it in 22.5 degree segments, which would mean 8 pieces for each 180 turn. I don't have any 6 lane track to design against but it would be interesting. Thanks for watching.

I haven't tested the idea but I was thinking of getting into track building but using sprayable plastidip over the slick surface and having aftercare (from Dip your car) to see the difference. The after care makes the dip practically glass like though so may or may not work
@spoolheads
@spoolheads 2 жыл бұрын
I've been considering testing plastidip to soften the track a little. The 3D printed track it quite hard and I sometimes miss the softness that the more flexible Hot Wheels track has.

I may make this into a group question, help, ides effort 😉 but imagine the fun and creativity that could be done and to just break down and put in van and move set up & play at new house, before the movers show up 😉any ideas or thoughts ?

There are lots of ways to have fun with racing these cars. Even just building a track out of cardboard is a blast. Good luck and thanks for watching!

If you want fast basic cars you want the ones built in Indonesia aka 5 Pack/multi pack exclusives. No idea why they’re faster but if you compare them it is faster

Fraser Campbell made the Original 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, So he probably made the off-road one too.

After more research, Dmitriy Shakhmatov designed the '19 Chevy Silverado Trail Boss LT which looks very similar except for it is a crew cab instead of an extended cab. I should try to connect with the designers to try to figure it out. Thanks for your comments and support!

What $1,000 printer should I buy?
@spoolheads
@spoolheads Жыл бұрын
It sounds like the best printer out there right now in the price range is the Bambu Labs printer. Creality just announced something similar that has a bigger build volume. That will be cool when it ships.
