Hi Wayne, Coming along nicely and I like what you said about doing a better job showing just where the tubes (both ends) connect to - that's a big help. Time to zing you for your parts names...🥴 but it's all part of the fun and you make it so by being such a good sport about it! The part you call a steering column @5:04 and 5:54 is actually the driveshaft, which you guys call a propeller shaft, or prop shaft. I think those are found in boats! Lol. As always, love your work, and your commentary and can't wait until my W196 arrives. I assure you I will make good use of your videos in completing it! P.S. - Those pipes taped to the top side of the fuel tank tank are just as they were on the real car. I have a nice publication by Karl Ludvigsen, "Mercedes Benz Grand Prix W196" and it has an original b&w photo of the exposed fuel and oil tanks showing the pipes actually taped to the tank, just as the model does!

Hey Wayne, I believe that at some point in the build, there will be a cover for the fuel and oil tanks. So those hoses won't be seen at all. Research pics of the car, and you'll see what I mean. The two tanks are not visible in photos.

I don't know why I didn't catch this earlier, 🤔but this build is also available from IXO. So, though this is a limited edition build form Agora, those of us who can't build it now, can build it later from IXO! 😀The minor little detail is from IXO it's a full kit for about $1,100.00

I think that the "Steering shaft" as you ( wrongly) called it is in fact the drive shaft aka prop shaft 😊

It’s the drive shaft. For some reason the instructions call it steering shaft

I definitely agree that it looks better with the hose fed underneath, regardless of a body panel being attached to hide it. I doubt on the real car that they are affixed to the tank with tape. Most likely a hose clamp is either screwed in or molded hose guides. I must say though attaching the steering mechanism on this car is one of the most, if not thee easiest assemblies I've seen. It's painful that this is a limited edition came out at a time I can't budget for it at the start of my retirement. 😐

@Rick Gregory - Actually, the real car had those two fuel hoses taped to the upper side of the fuel tank just exactly as it is shown in the model directions. From all the groaning about these hoses being there, I think most of you think the fuel tank is the outer body of the car, which it is not. It is only shaped like the body to maximize the amount of fuel it will hold. It is all completely hidden by the body when finished. 😁

Another great video Wayne .. it’s such a detailed model .. it’s a shame so much gets hidden by the bodywork! You could have used one of the easy spoke wheels 🛞 you built temporarily on the offside rear of the car to keep it stable? I am no mechanic and can’t always identify what each part is … but must be more confusing to our “colonial cousins” across the pond .. when we Brits refer to prop shafts; gear levers; wings; bonnet; boot etc! Lol 😅

This build is coming on so fast... as always the case it's such a pity (but inevitable) how much lovely detail with the frame difference, suspension etc gets hidden as the build comes on let alone before it has the body on it. Super nice model though

I don't like that exposed pipe either. is there a body panel that covers it? you definitely got "hosed" with this stage. I wonder if a spare tire from another build put on as a temp would have made it easier to work with

Hi on stage 63 cant get the gas and brake pedals to install. Wont go through the bottom "slot". What is the trick? I have tried many different angles but it just wont go. any suggestions?

@WorldofWayneUK no I've had a look the app is English but when he speaks its in German I have noticed that I can change the language on my phone to any but when I go back to English it says on the top change language

😢😢😢 I'm glad that I am not building this model, as I am getting confused about nipples, that are really pegs, wires/ cables that are really pipes. And not sure where you are putting them

@NSAdonis - Seems to be standard with large scale kit models. Take a look at the Pocher 1:8 Lotus 72, it's a nightmare compared to this kit!

@@Loulovesspeed it's still poorly tought out. For one, you have to wait 3 months for the last wheel, do cramped space judo with the piping, this one in particular also has a lot of part removals in the steps.

You need to stop deviating from what instructions tell you. Not only are you deviating from how it was built historically, but youre also potentially creating future issues when it comes to adding the bodywork. In the end it doesn't matter if you "like" how the instructions tell you to build something, they're doing it for a reason... And part of that reason is it's a scale replica of how it was built.
