Feel like I'm always on the search for my ideal Fuzz pedal. Is the answer actually one you build yourself?! Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

I just build the Stew Mac Sun Fuzz... its exactly what I've been looking for in a Fuzz. I added a transistor socket, but the BC108 transistors that come with the kit sound just fine. Easy to build, requires soldering skills, good instructional booklet (READ the instructions twice), and a help line if you need assistance.

Nice video. Your next build should be the ghost drive. I built the ghost & 2 kings and just ordered the Sun fuzz. I love the ghost drive and 2 kings isn’t bad either a little more involved both great kits IMO. Great demo on the fuzz. I’m going to put in transistor sockets to test out some bc 108’s and BC 183’s I have on hand.

Thanks for this. I love fuzz..this one sounds great. I have the Ghost Drive, but I haven't had time to build it. This one might be a little less time consuming. Pretty gnarly, when you crank it. I have the Deluxe Big Muff, so that's pretty much every Muff..This is a little different flavor. Now I need to find a demo of the Octave fuzz they sell.

What did you use for the enclosure paint/ finishing?

No shade thrown here, but someone show me the example of a fuzz…? I’m sure there are some technicalities that make this a fuzz, but to me it was a super warm gentle overdrive…? Am I stupid? Please, KZfaq, tell me…

The difference is how you clip (distort) the signal. A fuzz uses transistors and will usually be a lot more distorted (especially if they are silicon) than an overdrive (which uses diodes). However, simple fuzzes (with only 2 transistors) will usually clean up quite well with the guitar volume, making them sound like light overdrives.
