Hey Chris I have a question that sort of relates to this video so I thought i might see if you know how to fix this small problem. I am running arch with KDE and latte-dock. I have the normal typical config with a panel on top and the latte-dock on bottom. So here is my question I have install librewolf and the global menu on the top panel does not play nice with it. Any ideas?

can you make windows 7 thin pc iso 32 bit file to 64 bit?, the only thing here is to edit the architecture. everything else remains the same. i asked many people but still not get the best answer, they just asked me to install 64bit versions available, they don't know how to modify the iso file.

About a year and a half later, I'm now running my own Arch system thanks to your videos and the videos of a couple other youtubers here who have been generous enough to share your knowledge with the world. Thanks for doing this. I have am interest in repurposing old hardware. While there are lightweight to very lightweight distributions that can be installed, the best way is to build a custom distribution for each system. I'm a long way from that right now. It seems Linux from Scratch is the mode I think. But this tutorial may be the easiest way to start. Boy, I have a lot to learn. I grew up on DOS and Windows. Great video! This is a pretty good start for operating system customization! I do kind of wish you put a little more emphasis on the partition that's being used just because it could be different for everyone and it's important to be aware of and not do the wrong one. Other than that, very informative video! It shows different options to choose from and how we even have different preferences. I hate VLC on Windows for example, but am fine with it on Mac. I prefer Media Player Classic on Windows even though it's no longer supported. That's just an example demonstrating the benefits of different options. I only recently learned about Ventoy, which is incredibly useful for multi-boot on USB. I never used it for the longest time! I also had no idea there was a graphical way to install Arch like that. I've installed Gentoo a couple times (in VM) and I would say that makes it by far, easier!

Yeah, I started doing them over on Twitch again. Mainly because KZfaq punished me for doing them here if I left them published. If I do them again over here, I'll leave them unlisted or members only.

@Donald Mickunas if you're "new" enough to be looking for a tutorial for building your own system. You probably are someone that is familiar with Linux to some degree. This is a relatively advanced thing to be doing.

@Donald Mickunas I guess I always thought arch was more intimating then it is. I want to start from a kernel and go up from there. I couldn't figure out why it starts with a pre-made ISO.

Well, I'm stitching my own LineageOS-based smart phone OS install that will result in a de-googled Android smart phone - now this is great fun. Am using a Motorola Moto G7 Plus that bought off of ebay, brand new, for about $140. It's a very nice phone for that price. It will be even nicer when I re-flash its ROM to be completely devoid of Google apps and services, using the combo of F-Droid, Aurora Store, and microG in their place. And once I get this process down, am thinking of doing a Kickstarter for those that are interested in getting a de-googled, privacy-respecting Android phone of their own. For a service provider am going with Ting. I like having an unlocked phone, and I like a cell phone service provider that doesn't lock me into a long term contract commitment. This Is The Way - to roll, in the year of our Lord, 2021.

This video is a good start. Really it should have been three or four times the length or several smaller individual topics. He blew through things so quickly that I spent more time pausing and rewinding to look at on screen options that he blasted through too quickly. It would have been nice to include better item-by-item explanation of all the choices and why to choose or not choose any given option.

I personally like to start out with Manjaro and customize it starting with the manjaro-architect installer, since, in my experience, it tends to be more stable than arch and you still have the AUR available since it is based on arch
