@@unitedstatesofbuild4915 Mine does. Made sure mine understood before marriage, the shop and tools were equivalent to a coupon. She now has me build things and uses tools to repair her own toys such as a hair dryer, instead of buying new stuff. Coupons.

Yeh, I think leaf springs are a lot more forgiving when it comes to overloading. Ive seen a pair of badly damaged torsions that were overloaded. These axles sure ride good though, the trailer is quiet going down the road. It doesnt jump and rattle too bad.

Mine doesnt, maybe the newer versions do. You did trick me into looking though!

Also I have built many trailers all shapes and sizes and I am a professional welder. I am not knocking you just want to help. With the axles you are using you are way overbuilding the trailer. The crossmembers are way overkill then you have a complete second frame on top of your mainframe the trailer itself is pushing 5000 lbs that is almost capacity of one of your axles.

Availability, I wanted 8k's but new ones werent in the budget and used ones werent showing up in my local classifieds. This is a common sized axle so if 8k's show up I can swap them in. In the meantime Im hauling all kinds of stuff. Thanks for the comment

UnitedStatesofBuild - you’re 100% right on the prices. I’ve bought two this year, and have had to search the mid-west to find reasonable prices. Anything in the South, or on the West coast is darn near 2x what it cost last year. Only exception being the brands that sell direct from their factory. Those seem to have gone up “only” about 30%. Kudos again on your trailer build. I hope you get to put a million miles on it.

I chose 26' because the trailer is used to haul 30'+ material. Ill have a few clips of some long stuff loaded up at the end of the series. I chose a wood deck because metal can get slippery AND when it gets bent and banged up its more difficult to replace a small section. Thanks for watching!!

Also, I’m in commercial construction... where I’m used to seeing breaking ground -to-topping off operations to punch list to going back after punch list. Only because who I work for at the time decides on how high I work and 45 stories is my top height up and 4 stories my top height down. Yet I am still impressed with your videos. You are by no means a hack, Definitely well rounded and what appears to be what would be called in baseball a “5 tool guy”.... what is your main trade?

Sounds like you have a fun job, are getting a lot of experience and have a career that will allow you to climb the ladder. Are you union? Whereabouts are you located? I dont come from money BUT the good Lord has given me EVERYTHING I need. My wife and I both have incomes, in CA thats almost necessary these days. Metal work was always a hobby of mine but when I got my drivers license I went into concrete work. I sort of pivoted back metal work full time but still dabble in concrete. A fair amount of my equipment is 2nd hand, which makes it more affordable. Buy it right and youll be ok. You have to be able to put in the sweat-equity and be handy with a wrench. As far as tools, Ive been collecting them since before I could drive, so 20 years-ish. I need them because each of them earns me money....except my Ridgid ZRR6791, Id probably never buy another one of those. Thanks for watching and Thanks for your interest.

@@unitedstatesofbuild4915 the rigid comment was funny. I have a decent amount of gear. Not as much as you yet but a decent amount. Someone once told me “the guy who dies with the most tools wins!” I thought that was funny and relatable Definitely have knack a for grabbing high quality tools ...and second hand as well before I take the plunge on something new. But i don’t neglect the fact that cheap tools have their place. In fact some of them have gotten me out of some jams far from home. I am a union carpenter in Boston. I have visited the hall out in Los Angeles when I visited two summers ago for my cousins wedding. One of my biggest folk heroes in building was a union carpenter out in California and passed away a few years back. Truly a good man who gave back. You may know his name as Larry Haun. Author of the very efficient carpenter. I very much wanted to, but I never got to meet him... but would apprenticed under him for free. I was sad when I heard of his passing. The carpenters union offers training in welding over here. So I took some a while back. I’m definitely not getting certified by the state anytime soon... but I have a couple machines and enough know how to get certain things done ...until I get into needing it more where I’d have to up my game. Never got into concrete and the union here gets a lot of it. I was working with a partner on a window in the downtown area. He was in union concrete for a long time before his path changed ...anyway We were about 20 stories up looking down across the street at a new footprint going on and he muttered... “I’m so glad I don’t do concrete anymore” ... he said that a lot!😆 And then I know guys who love it... but he was 54 and these guys are 34 so there you go. I did scaffolding and as much as i loved that... my body couldn’t handle it. After 3pm I was junk and useless for the rest of my day... but I did love it. When my lady and I went on a trip to Ireland for a week, the initial excitement was that my shoulders wouldn’t be in agony for 7 days... then i enjoyed the trip. Most of my experience though is with exterior clading... framing over densglass and insulating ... sometimes the exterior metal framing and densglass...then ACM panels or whatever product the job calls for. But you sound like you might know what that entails so I’ll spare the boredom. The fun part of the job is that I still get the heights, the downside is the we are outside all year long. Rain and snow... muggy heat. You basically get 2 nice months maybe 3 where the elements don’t even mildy disrupt your work performance And yeah side work... which sucks ... you do it because “you never know” ...which is never fun to juggle when you’re working ... and you can’t fully immerse yourself into starting your own business because you’re union. Anyway, thanks for getting back. I’ll be watching more of your stuff. So far what I’ve seen is spectacular. Keep up the good work
