I head to a patch of forest in the Australian Bush to build a little tarp shelter for the night with forecasted rain and storms coming in. I use resources around me to create a bed to sleep on. I also review the Pathfinder SS 32 oz Bottle-Cup-Stove Cook Set from Survival Supplies Australia.

Camped like that many many times in my life mate loved every minute of it, even the Cadet corp on bivouacs in the mountains North East of where I lived in Country I actually knew pretty well we only had a pup tent for 2 guys and a poncho for a ground sheet and a couple of old army blankets,.A lot of the kids sooked a bit because they were Mummies boys but not me and some of my mates coz this was how we rolled, a pup tent and a poncho were bloody luxuries.

With a name like Bearded Bushranger I naturally had to take a look ;) Love the tarp shelter setup. It's my favorite way to go. Your other videos look theyre right up my alley. I'll be checking them out. Thanks. Subbed. Good luck amigo.

Thanks mate I appreciate it. Last 2 years I've been working away at another channel ( @lukeslittle tribe ) which is all about getting my kids out bush. But I got a real passion for Aussie history and how the old fellas camped so thought I'd start up this channel just dedicated to that.

@TheBeardedBushranger I like the idea of the history and how it was done 'back in the day'. Hope it works out. Kudos on getting the kids interested.

What I do sometimes is go to a river and rearrange the rocks to make a nice sleeping platform, first big rocks, then medium, all level, then throw in lots of small pebbles. Goes pretty fast when there's lots of rocks. I've even set one up under a bank with water flowing beneath. Easy to anchor an upright stick in the rocks for attaching tarp. Doing that, have to be aware of flash floods. Even if it's not raining where you're at, it can be raining miles away in the mountains and a flash flood can be like a tidal wave. So my method is definitely questionable. Still, a lot of rocks makes a great sleeping platform. Then I'll often put down vegetation. I've also used clay, meticulously removing all pebbles and making a perfectly flat tablet with excellent drainage. That all takes time though. Pretty fast with rocks, doesn't take long at all. A rocky area can be a good defensive area too, if there's wild pigs roaming around. Be a little higher in the rocks than them, and if they do get any ideas (and they can and do sometimes) can throw rocks at them. They'll get mad, but go away.

Sounds good mate, I did a trip along the coast and managed to make a bed platform using driftwood and rocks.

G’day mate. Just subscribed. Love your outings. Being a bush craft channel, it might be a good idea to brush up on basic knot tying & then even do a how to when you’ve mastered them. The Clove Hitch & Square Lashing are I believe two of the most used in bush craft. You’re getting some great view numbers on this video already. Well done 👍🍻

Thanks heaps mate for watching. I'll be totally honest with you .. of all the bushcraft areas, knot tying is one of my weaker points .. so it's not a bad suggestion!!! Going to get onto that a.s.a.p. thanks for watching

The rain really seems to love you mate. 🤣 Nice little camping spot and if there was anything to fall from above, that double trunked fallen tree may have protected you anyway. I've got that same Pathfinder kit but I've never used the little twig stove that came with it. I have however, just bought the new Titanium twig stove from Alton Goods. Great looking little stove. I can't wait to try it out. My collection of Alton products just keeps growing. 🤣

Yeah I love the alton products. I have a twig stove but it's not the alton one. Yeah this spot is a great little spot just down the back from my house, so it's good to get out for more little bushcraft type projects.

I have to admit I do love my own nesting sets, but I have damaged a couple of the nesting stoves now by warping them in fires that were a little too hot. Small fires and my Trangia used with them now. Live and learn, even now. Love the new channel 👍

That would be interesting. I have always been a fan of the WW2 German Mess Kit and have some WW2 ones and used them since I was a kids in the Cadets, in my own service days and even now. Some old ideas were so good they are still getting used today.
