I love this new format of yours. No talking, short video and just pure relaxation of watching craftsmanship. More please.

MAGNICIENT. It broke my heart that you had to shorten those beautiful screws.

I am a bookbinder and I approve! I like that you chose the wider screws. This means that it is much easier and quicker to open and close. I wonder about the point of the additional Wooden pieces at the handles. And it is missing a locking pin. The 2.5 inch screw is what makes the difference.

The wooden pieces are there because of a mistake. Initially I didn't have a 2 1/2 in drill bit so I did it by hand and that made it too wide and uneven.

I like this KZfaq video-style experiment - tasty camera angles. Very satisfying. Great craftsmanship. It appears as though you're both very talented!

I initially though Moxon Vice. Then I thought yep, the relief is for your saw when cutting dovetails...book binding?

What a nice thread box and tap! I was intrigued by the thumbnail being a left hand thread, but I guess it is just a mirrored image. Couldn't you have wasted most of those bevels on the bandsaw?

Oooh, I've been waiting for this one. I'm waiting for my uni break to try my hand at making a finishing press, I'm in dire need of one, and it's always good to have video footage of someone making it to help in the first time, so thanks :-) Edit: Why no locking pin? Was it unnecessary?

Up until you put the sewn signatures (probably wrong term - book block?) into the vise, I thought you were making a Moxon vise. Very nice.
@graciouscompetentdwarfrabbit
@graciouscompetentdwarfrabbit 3 жыл бұрын
book block would be the most accurate term, yes, since at first she only placed the signatures to cut holes for the thread, but sewn signatures is understandable and, at least to me, would work as well

www.dictum.com/en/cylindrical-tapered-cutters-bakk/profi-wood-threading-tool-2-piece-set-38-mm-714143. That link only goes up to 38mm/1.5". Try www.fine-tools.com/gewind.html for up to 62mm/2.5". They are all pricey for a single project, it is probably cheaper to buy finished products from someone like Lake Erie.

3 x 5.5 x 32 inches (7.62 x 14 x 81.3 cm) You can use smaller all around though. I just chose these because I had them. Thanks!
