I’m not gonna bash your engine work like some people in the comments do. We should all respect your grit and dedication. 💪 Please just allow me to give you some advice. I’ve been there and done that, I would like to save you from some (costly) mistakes I made. (Tried to rebuild an engine with a spun main bearing) 1: Engine work NEEDS to be carried out in a clean, dust free and dry environment. If you can’t do that because you don’t have a place -> take it to a machine shop. 2: That “surface” rust and the chemical treatment you used, causes an uneven head surface. Even if it looks flat it isn’t. You should resurface it to avoid premature head gasket failures. 3: The measurements of clearances for main and rod bearings, cylinder and pistons for a rebuild is a science and a craft. You CANNOT guess it will be alright. You need to be absolutely sure the tolerances are good. If not, catastrophic engine failure within the first 1000 miles is gonna be the result. I hope your motivation for rebuilding it yourself is a tight money situation, but hear me out. In my opinion you only have 2 options that will work in the long run. 1: You try to find a low mileage block that has good compression and do an engine swap. (No machining) 2: Since you already have revision kits and gaskets etcetera. Let Dave rebuild the engine. It’s gonna cost you less money in the long run by letting a professional rebuild your engine. You get guarantee, the block will be tested. And you will have peace of mind. Also another thing. When you are working on your engine, you don’t generate income. Listen to my advice or don’t, but please, please please contact Dave. 🙏
