I love you for the tip of putting the keepers in the retainers before dropping them in. SO MUCH EASIER.

Hey buddie just a little tip for installing keepers I just use some dielectric grease and either a magnetic pocket screw driver or small set of needle nose pliers and you’ll be able to just set the keepers in place and they won’t move on ya and don’t worry the grease will get squeezed out when you release on your compressor and the retainer rises back up just a trick I learned having to rebuild 2 engines a day for a couple years

I always put a little assembly grease on the keepers to make them kind stick in place when installing them. Just my two cents

Hey I'm wondering if you could share some knowledge in your build. I have a 00 Acura Integra gsr. I rebuilt my b18c1 and it's still burning oil, could be rings, could be valve seals. The rebuilt is less than 50k km. However I've decided to rebuild the whole block again. This time I was wondering what are some parts prone to wear quicker than the rest so I can reinforce it and prevent breakdowns like I'm having right now ? I want a reliable build. Should I look for a type r head ?

Hey man on the last video you said those light weight crank pulleys have caused you to spin bearings or something? Any idea why? I was thinking about getting one.
@HunterTuned
@HunterTuned 6 жыл бұрын
Big Phizzle they mainly cause the oil pumps to fail. Which will make the motor lose oil pressure. They don’t “dampen” vibration like a true factory harmonic balancer or “crank pulley” if your going to get an aftermarket unit go with an ATI. There’s a reason the lightweight ones are $20 lol

just did a water pump, timing belt/tensioner and new camshaft seals.. now my belt is walking towards the block.. what could be the issue? the cams are lined up, all the gears and water pump seem to be in line
@HunterTuned
@HunterTuned 3 жыл бұрын
Your missing the washers or one of the washers on the crank pulley. There is a washer for each side of the belt on the crank pulley

How much pressure are you using to pry up on the tensioner? There are conflicted opinions on relying on the spring tension.
@HunterTuned
@HunterTuned 6 жыл бұрын
James Vang I’m not sure how to explain how much pressure I’m using. Just pry up till the belt is tight and tighten the bolt
@jamesvang4521
@jamesvang4521 6 жыл бұрын
Theres just controversy surrounding between whether or not the tensioner should need a little prying up or relying solely on the spring for tension.

Quite a few actually, and I use a combination of gasket remover and plastic razor blades or a carbide scraper depending on the surface. If you don't want to hand scrape a brittle disc on an air grinder is less abrasive than a wire wheel and won't dig into aluminum.
@HunterTuned

I agree. I guess I’ve never had issues doing this way so haven’t changed anything. Thanks for the advice!

Another cool vid, i bought one of those "push type" valve retainer remover tools and god damn that thing worked great. replaced valve stem seals with head still on, in the car. Got the tip from this vid.. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sKyddplnvruaqn0.html
