It was great to see the penny drop that you could put a quarry tile on the end of the lintel and around the top and it looks so effective. Reference your heating wiring it is just a 'S Plan plus' Honeywell have loads of wiring diagrams on line. They are easy to follow. Any competent Plumber/Electrician can follow them! Not trying to be clever or disrespect anyone but it is simple. Wire from a 3amp fused spur, programmable thermostats for each circuit all have L,E,N,and switched live connect switched live to the brown on the two port valve. Two port valve has Permanent live which is Grey connect these to live from fused spur. Boiler demand is Orange connect these together and then connect to boiler. E,N, and brown connected to its own thermostat. Boiler if it is a combination Boiler has permanent live, N, E. Usually the boiler thermostat loop is removed and one side is connected to the orange from two ports. Use a 10 way wiring center and .75 wire. Hope this helps

Re cameras, Arlo, google it 4K bundle wireless. Btw love that little detail with tiles above the (fantastically restored lintel) little cuts one in from end. It’s the little detail that counts, it’s a positive look in my mind better than a straight run.

Alarm wise we always use Texecom Pyronix wireless alarms, they professional grade. Re CCTV’s I know off the shelf ones are easy to fit but the hikvision ones are 4/5 mega pixel and last a long time, with lots of features and they can fit up on ya soffits so any power cable can be run through the loft, the signal can be sent wirelessly, so no wires needed inside. Adam if you have already run data cables to the position you want to place the cameras getting power is no problem. Look for a system that has POE (Power Over Ethernet). It uses the data cables to power the cameras. You will have to get a router and an Ethernet switch that support POE. Running POE does not affect the performance of other network connected non-POE devices such as computers etc.

Hey Adam, most impressed with the fireplace, looks like the ducks nuts! We are in the middle of a big refurb on our house in North London. I had installed ring floodlight cameras, which I must admit are hardwired. I’m sure the battery ones are as good too, they seem easy to install and work very well and are so easy to setup and access from any mobile device. Only issue like all of these things is if your router fails or internet from BT is compromised you have nothing!!! If someone is really going to target your home your not going to stop them, but most don’t like the chance they are caught on your camera. I hope this helps, by the way I think your content is excellent, I am a Chartered Surveyor and like seeing the level of detail. Regards Mike Q

The fireplace looks a treat Adam. Very nice touch. I bought a blink doorbell( as good as a ring product imo ) I was quite disappointed to find out that you had to subscribe monthly to be able to see the recordings! I got rid of it and bought a Tapo ( via Amazon) security camera (£25) . This rotates 360deg and when motion is enabled you would have a job not to get picked up. All recordings on an sd card and completely free. Notifications to phone etc. For the money its brilliant. This is fitted in a carport so i got the indoor model. They do an outdoor one i fitted to a mates house and its brilliant. (Tapo again). They work off a socket and have a generous low voltage lead with it. You can also buy an extension for it so any socket near enough to the camera will do. Good luck mate. 👍

Great video as always mate, a lot of love has gone into that house. When you said why can we board steel for fire protection that will be because it’s job is resisting fire (normally for a minimum of 30 minutes) for 1 layer of pink fire line boards or 2 layers of standard 12.5mm with staggered joins to protect it for that time, when in close proximity to the stove it’s about combustibility, a lot of materials are fire resistant but they can still burn. Unless the material is A1 fire rated it’s classed as combustible unfortunately. Sometimes if the stove is below 7kw then a steel heat shield will be acceptable.Take care mate and all the best 👍🏻

I thought Vermiculite was used as a fire stopping material, but I’m going back a few years. Some of the more recent regulations do seem a bit OTT but you have to comply. Great job as usual and I’ve managed to see it today. What could be better. Really coming together. All the best Mike

Use cement board for the transition between flexible flu and your solid fluu inside the chimney above that lovely lintel. I'd paint it with black fire resistant paint as yours will be seen. When you cut an entrance for the chimney sweep,use an off cut thats slightly bigger and place it through the hole and sit on top,if that makes sense Adam. I fixed ours underneath with screw's,and the sweep said the heat causes them to shear off. Definitely get a multi fuel stove unless your best mates a tree surgeon and a stove fan,just a cheap one as they don't last more than 3/4 years in my experience 👍

Hi, use two NEST thermostats one for the underfloor and one for the rads upstairs.

Look at the Eufy range of security cameras, etc. Local storage, so no subsciptions/ monthly fees. 🙂

I was a bit concerned the fireplace would end up like a Disney set , luckily it kind if suits the room , if i ask nicely can you go through the small ground level window again as i can't find it anywhere

It always is an issue with the nest, u/f and rads. I bullied a plumber into it, but I think it's a combo of plumber and electric, the trick is a relay, Allen Hart had done a good vid. "Relays on central heating systems - Leeds Plumber"

Just fish your walls into the attic for cat 6, hikvision colourviews and an nvr. Stay away from battery powered junk and ring etc.

You dodged a bullet with your Lvt flooring. We had a company lay ours & they had to relay it 3 times before it was right. A simple test like you had would have avoided all that.

The fireplace looks nice Adam, but how did you manage to fix the fireboard up on the back as you seemed to have fitted the stone lintel and quarry tiles first ? By the look on Riches face that stone must have been heavy.

Just some valve the under floor heating. Will work on whatever boiler you have (system/ combi)

Unfortunately wireless cameras are significantly flawed over the wired variants especially Wi-Fi connected security devices (they can easily be disconnected from the network, by devices and software such as the flipper even when they are not on your network) further more bandwidth is significantly limited especially by building materials. In short there isn't realy a secure replacement for cabled security devices, especially those on Wi-Fi.

For gods sake don’t get dark coloured Kardene as it shows every bit of dust. You’ll be cleaning it every day like my daughter in law.

Best to run the ufh at 25c everyday for a few hours. Let it crack if it needs to. I've found on about 3 jobs the screed cracks. Then ditra over it if tiling but not in your case. Don't forget to get them to sand the top layer of the screed off before priming the floor surface.

That tile cut is witchcraft...id be tempted to put a door handle on the wall of the fireplace..just as a talking point... 👹
