I was cringing when you first laid paint on the tank but it turned out really well. I was surprised at the quality of the camouflage especially being hand painted with a brush. Nice job! Your skills are rapidly growing.

Theyre not radio antennas they are support poles for a tarp or camo netting due to the Marder being an open top. Excellent paint job especially as this is your first hand painted hard line camouflage pattern 👍

Well.... I have seen some content from you, but never came back to you. I am a scale Modeller (and have a webshop with my own designs). The way you build and paint is a really good way to show people who a good painting technique is good enough if a person do not have an airbrush. German vehicles usually were painted with air pressure paints. But you showed brushing on is possible! Love to see how your diorama comes together! Oh, and the tracks...it is a choice to keep them off...I normally put them on... paint the underside black and with an airbrush I paint in the (dark yellow) wheels and the details of the hull ... Tracks and road wheel-rubber stays black. The tracks get a overbrush and drybrush. Then the mud and dust will tie everything together! But, in the end ... Nice skills girl!

They are treads, but that word refers, more specifically, to the part of the track that provides traction. They are more commonly referred to as tracks.

Perhaps the humble Sturmgeschütz III (StuG III) might be of interest. On the Eastern front, out of necessity, the (Stug lll) became a true tank killer. Once the crews of the Marder 3 crews realized the reputation of Stug lll, which was not designed for engaging tanks or even considered to be a tank, they began to request and prefered the humble Stug lll instead.

Good build. I built this same kit when it first came out about 12-15 years ago and had the 1-piece vinyl tracks. I, too, had problems with that finicky PE exhaust cover and the way Tamiya suggested to build it...well let's just say my kit does NOT have an exhaust. Re-purchased this same kit a few years ago because of the improved plastic tracks, but still avoided the PE for the exhaust this time - just figured it was damaged in combat and the crew chopped it off is my story.

Prepared to fire! A very cool video - something like this would weather really well with enamels I think - good use of odourless thinner can really help the weathering conentrate in the right areas without permanently staining your panels where the dust would be less likely to accumulate.

Try doing soft edge camo with the airbrush . It's easier than you think . Most german armor has soft edge camo . But other wise thats a good looking tank . Even with the hard edge camo . Thanks for the vid

One little hack you can do with most German armor kits is to not glue the wheels to the suspension but to the tracks instead. That way you can pull off the entire assembly as one part then paint and weather it separately.
@HobbyNight
@HobbyNight 5 ай бұрын
Oh I hadn't considered that. Thanks for the tip.

@@HobbyNight one thing I use to attach my wheels so they align is Hob-E-Tac, which you can find in the model railroad section of a hobby shop. However with interleaved suspensions like Panthers and Tigers friction often will hold them in place so the Tac isn't necessary

What an overview over the build, the timelapses were great. If you are open for more then tanks from Tamiya, perhaps consider one of the mobile anti aircraft gun models (flak) they have. That would give a great diorama combined with the Marder, if you give it the same camo.

My recommendation for a historically accurate camoflaged tank would be one of these: * German Panther G (Late) (Dragon or Takom) * German Tiger I (Mid or Late) w/Zimmerit (Takom) * German Tiger II H (King Tiger) w/ Zimmerit (Takom, Hobby Boss, or Dragon) * German Hetzer tank destroyer (Takom or Dragon) * US M60A3 (Takom or AFV Club; avoid the Tamiya kit!) NOTE: When getting a Dragon kit, always, ALWAYS, try to get either a kit with Magic Tracks, individual link tracks on the sprues, or get aftermarket tracks, because Dragon DS tracks are GARBAGE! They rot and fall apart. Literally EVERY ONE of my Tiger I kits has this issue, both 1/35 and 1/72. Beware.

Thank you for the video, and cool that you enjoyed the build and liked the result. That's the most important part of the hobby, after all ;) This is meant as constructive feedback: The tracks should be black with possible metallic wear, particularly where the track part would make contact with the ground. For a few further details about colours for German WWII armor, spend 9 minutes with this excellent video (even if I disagree with his #2 recommendation): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r8uVgpt2ytSuqY0.htmlsi=yVcGXttZhY5CvRNX

Armor model builders are a fickle group of people, if you ever want to be taken seriously stop focusing on selling ass and put more effort into your build. For starters German tank crew uniforms are black. Also I suggest doing a pin wash instead of just built, paint, and sloshing wash over everything. Use dust and mud effects, and you hit the nail on the head build your tracks and remove them to paint separately. Also some chipping effects make armor look seasoned. Painting miniatures and bigger scale kits are 2 different monsters with different methods of work. This is just some constructive criticism and hope you try different techniques to achieve your goals.
