This is part one of my greenhouse build. The greenhouse is made from 2x4's, pcv pipe, and greenhouse plastic.

Stop using white (plumbing) PVC for this, it's not UV resistant. It will become brittle and crack after a season or two. Use electrical PVC conduit it's UV resistant and will last for years. I made my hoop house from electrical conduit like 8 years ago.

I agree that electrical conduit would probably last longer since it's has uv additives, but I built this 2 years ago and it has so signs of degradation and I live in South Carolina.

Paint it with acrylic white and it should last longer.

I was going to use acrylic black , so it wouldn't be seen so much. , but believe painting it will make it last longer.@@FBPrepping

67 women, I CAN DO THIS!! in hot aug. FL. But we do get freeze..got to protect my tropical plants in pots. Start now may be finished jby Dec.

I can't use it in the summer here in South carolina, but it stays warm in the spring and fall and most of the winter.

Very detail and helpful videos! Question: Which side did you do pvc frame? It looks like you did on the 16’ sides, but hard to tell on the video. And any reference on how to calculate the pvc length need for my smaller green house(5’x8’) ? PVC on the 8’ side how long of the pvc I need to use? Thanks, DC

Nice but why not buy 20ft lengths of PVC-verses two 10's and a coupling?

They didn't have the 20ft lengths at my local store. If they had, I would have used 20ft.

20 feet in total. I used 2 x 10 foot pieces.

How did you get the pvc so flexible is it 2 PC or 1 long 20ft piece

I used 2 10ft pieces. There is a This Old House Greenhouse video on KZfaq where they use 20ft pieces, but I didn't see them at the store. The PVC was flexible enough. I did not have to do anything special.

Couldn't open your skp files. How much headroom is there?

I'm 5'11" tall and the wooden frame is a few inches above my head. The plastic is almost a foot over my head in the center. I was afraid it would be low, but it is very comfortable to walk around in there. The skp files are for a program called sketchup. It was free to download when I made this, but I'm not sure if the current status.

@@JohnHamerProjects Thanks for the update. I picked up some 20 foot long, 1 inch sch 40 pvc to build my greenhouse. I tried 12 foot width and 10 foot width hooking the pvc on rebar driven into the ground. While the 12 foot version gives me clearance (6'2") I am going with the 10 foot width as the additional headroom is outstanding.
