"Our mindsets shape our expectations, attitudes, motivations, and intensions, and they influence how we think, feel, and behave in any given situation. When we speak of a ""growth mindset"" we are talking about our mindset about ""intelligence"". This is the contribution of Dr. Carol Dweck and her research on what she calls ""a fixed mindset"" vs. ""a growth mindset"". Her research has demonstrated that how we think about intelligence influences not only our opinions, but also how intelligent and successful we become in life. Which mindset we possess also affects how we perceive others' intelligence, and how much effort we will make on their behalves. Karen’s session describes how neuroscience supports Dr. Dweck's findings on the benefits of a ""growth mindset"", and ways we can cultivate a growth mindset in ourselves and others. By the end of the workshop, participants can expect to be able to name at least one difference between a ""fixed"" and ""growth"" mindset, at least one neuroscientific finding that supports the benefits of a ""growth"" mindset, and at least one way we can increase a ""growth mindset"" in ourselves and others."
