Building a guitar from scratch | Ep8 - Finishing touches | Great Guitar Build Off (Unofficial)

3 жыл бұрынIn this video a lot of the finishing touches are made, including the top staining, headstock, tailpiece and frets. There is not much more left of this build, it feels really close to being finished so this was an important milestone in this project.

Yeah haha, well I did say that whilst recording but didn't include it in the final video 😅 but yeah, it basically is just a floyd locking nut

So, you didn't file down pencil mines and coat your own potentiometers? I'm very disappointed! Just kidding, you showed incredible resourcefulness with this build.

Thank you, hahaa unfortunately not, I did have some pots laying around from previous projects, maybe it could have been a fun thing to try and see if I could make one out of something, I definitely have some ideas but I might keep them for some future episodes 😄

Looking great, as I have said before some really nice creative touches you have used from what you have available to you ; including local materials and basic tools. The 3D printer is a bonus though. Looking forward to the next installment. For cutting the fret slots you just needed a thinner finer saw, you will hopefully be able to purchase one of these for your future builds. There are several sellers online who sell these dedicated fret slotting saws. If and when you purchase one try and purchase the Sheffield Steel variety as this saw should last a long time. And is well made.

You might be underestimating how much work you still have left to finish the guitar! Are you going to put some kind of finish on it? I'd love to see what you would come up with if you had a fully equipped workshop!

Haha, I was thinking that as well, yes, I will put an oil finish on it. But I do know there is still a lot of work, but there's not much time left so I'll have to make it work with what I have 😅
