On my jeep I cut the front fenders out like that but I took the left fender flare and mounted on the right side and the right fender flare and mounted it on the left and I mount them higher so that it still looks good it still has the flare and it actually doesn't even look like it's not stock yet clears 33's or 35's,doesn't throw mud and rocks all over the side of the rig (Ever had a rock come flying out of the tread and hit the back of your forearm when getting off of the trail?... It doesn't tickle one bit!!) And the front fenders don't look hacked.

In Florida, a boat is a "hole in the water" that you pour money into, (but don't get much use out of.) Looks like the same principle applies here. 😂 I drove a bone stock 98 Cherokee for 10 years. I expect it is still going strong, where ever it is.

loved the video! I also bought an xj about 6 months ago :) I have a couple questions. how do you have so much flex? my xj also has a 3 inch lift with 33s and it can barely flex. did you take the sway bar off? also what pressure do you air down to without beadlocks? and how much mileage did the green jeep have when you bought it? thanks!
@jacobfisher9818
@jacobfisher9818 Жыл бұрын
yes, if you pause it around 17:25, you can see there is no sway bar
@ProjectXJ
@ProjectXJ Жыл бұрын
You definitely need to remove the sway bar to get flex. On a 15x8 wheel, you can air down to about 12 psi without worrying too much about losing a bead.

I have the same car in Egypt. But yours is super clean. I want to start rebuilding the suspension to a legit 3-4” lift and I need guidance on the parts I won’t be able to buy the parts all at once since I’ll have to import everything to Egypt (super costly) My car is lifted 3.5” but more of a DIY thing by the previous owner: Teflon lift kits for the front shocks Jeep Wrangler shocks Added 1 leaf for the rear springs (no shackles) Rubicon lower control arms No slip yoke eliminator What do you think I should do? Where should I start?
@mikes4x4garage
@mikes4x4garage Жыл бұрын
Sounds like you’re up to a good start. Make sure you set up the bump stops correctly, and have the brake lines extended or moved so they don’t get ripped off. A Transfer case drop is an easy way to avoid an SYE, but you do lose and inch of ground clearance. Bilstein 5100s are great shocks if you’re looking to firm up the ride, and I would looks towards a reputable brand like iron rock offroad if you want a decent lift kit. Also, amazing to talk to someone from the other side of the planet! Good luck!🤘🏻

@@mikes4x4garage thanks for responding to my comment Mike! I was thinking about buying a Rough Country lift kit but in several stages: Shocks and springs + sway bar links Then leaf springs and shackles Then a track bar and steering stabilizer The thing is I don’t know what should be done first I know that Rough Country is not a top brand but it will perform well at the end of the day, right? I won’t be crawling over rocky terrain but I still prefer the clearance.

tips for springs when uninstalling like in this video, jack up your axle and compress it. Get a bunch of heavy duty zip ties and tighten them on the spring then release jack. To safely undo zip ties do the reverse or place on some hot coals and run away 😎
