Can’t wait for a part two! Great work. Try worm gears, they give great torque, slow the motors down, and it’s basically impossible to make them slip Also for the turntable you could add a ring on top of the wheels like a mechanical sandwich to make it less wobbly

Great project! This reminds me of a school project I once had where a friend an i programmed a robot to build a lego house ;D I think we had around 5k code lines for just a 10x10 cm house with 4 walls, a door, and a window with a prebuild roof that the robot had to place on top. So seeing you struggle with just the first brick placement really brings memories back. Looking forward to seeing the updated version ;D

I'd love to see another round at this. Pretty awesome build and entertaining video. 👍 Maybe have the base wheels with rubber on them (I think someone else mentioned) and connect them underneath the large circle so it adds stability when the weight of the arm is extended or if it lifts something heavy. Also cool wrap built around it but this adds to weight and slows motion down too. Maybe strip it down get it working as best you can and add minimal panels to make it less heavy for the motors. I have seen some claw designs where there's a corkscrew in the middle that could help push out what is being held as the claw opens so maybe that can help it build too. Just brain-storming for you. Blown away by what you presented though. Keep at it and I'm sure you'll get it! 😊

Not sure if you thought of it. Or would consider it, but Rollercoasters have wheels and supports on more than one side of track. Perhaps turn the base swivel into a cage bearing. Make a frame and attach another ring track on top. Might make it stronger and smoother than just making it wider. Very top heavy as well. Add weight to bottom. Alot, if you want it to press bricks together

I’m surprised this wasn’t done with any LEGO Mindstorms platform! But then, I have an overwhelming bias toward potentially fully autonomous robots, which probably wouldn’t be useful in this case. I’d love to see a part 2, if one hasn’t been posted already!

need to use the bananna gears to make the base rotate solidly. Also, you've got that curved wall with the drawers, have it bring the drawers out. you could use a mindstorms colour sensor at the end of the arm, and little stickers on all the drawers so its knows which one is which.

🔥🦾 Amazing technical feat! all you need is an appropriate controller, or even better make an ia that can follow instructions! may i suggest, for the rotation of the base, to check out the bag n° 6 of lego 42082 set? (a red crane). Maybe it could inspire you to come up to a more solid design to prevent the crazy wobbling

I believe one of the tutorials I watched for power functions said that there is a way to set an absolute position for the motors. So you could give yourself a button that positions the arm directly over the same point do that it's easier to stack the bricks

I really love your videos, thank you, and my 7-year-old daughter and I enjoy watching them. Do you have any tips or videos on simple basic interfaces to run lego motors? I was a Lego technic enthusiast as a child, and now I've started buying modern Lego technic for my daughter (and yes, for me too :) but the modern sets only seem to let us run the motors from an annoying app, which a) is annoying, requiring us to use my phone and touch screen as our only option to control them, and b) it even point-blank REFUSES to run the motors at all if it thinks they are connected differently to the battery box from how the set that we bought stipulated. This is totally ridiculous, because the whole point of Lego has always been (as you illustrate so well in this video here) to use the parts to invent your own stuff. My daughter and I recently built a (very simple) Lego ski lift for Lego people, super-primitive, just winding in a piece of string with a motor, basically, and I literally had to physically build it differently, with an axel fitted into a free-wheeling piece of another motor, in order to satisfy the Lego app and "trick" it into letting me just run the one motor that I wanted. I tried to look up suggestions of how to just use the motors ourselves with full control, but it seemed complicated and I don't understand what to do next.

guess the issue is the weight in the arm, for the base to avoid beign "tilty" use bearings between 2 circular parts (those made of 4-24121) not on 4 points but at least 1 each 45 degrees (8) than as long as a gearbox could be used to multiply outputs insted of changing speed with really few efforts just use a 3 output turntable plus a sequential gearbox as a function multiplier (up to 9 functions) all the weight will be in the base.

Why don’t you build a mountain railway (I have a plan for the locomotive!) Make it look like the engine Snowdon from the snowdon mountain railway, using an open gear smaller than the wheels, put a gear rack in between the rails that will mesh with the gear. Curves and points will have to be level, to keep the engine from slipping
