In episode 5 of building a modular model railway series I start work on the station.
Hi everyone, it’s what you’ve all been waiting for - another update video on the building of my modular model railway! In this exciting episode I’m starting on phase two of the modular model railway build which means I’ll be starting work on the station. Over the course of this episode I’ll not only be sharing the completed track plan for the station but you’ll also see me laying all the track and figuring out how to fit in all those points!
The big question at the end of the day though is does it work? Will the trains actually run on my model railway? Stay tuned to find out!

Always impressed by your planning and the way you construct your baseboards with structures and scenic levels already defined. The station plan and arrangement with the shed is very close on being a model of Butterley station on the MRC. The track plan you've chosen is almost exactly the same so might be worth looking at for scenic ideas.
@ThatModelRailwayGuy
@ThatModelRailwayGuy 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I think because it's modular I know I have certain rules/standards/targets to follow (admittedly of my own making) so that it all matches up. That makes the planning a lot easier because some things are already in place and it's not just a blank sheet of paper. That's great about Butterley station though - it wasn't intentional at all so I'll definitely check it out. I actually based the plan off a loose hybrid of Embsay and Oakworth (albeit flipped the other way and massively compressed!) so it's good to know that it's not miles away from reality somewhere! Thanks for watching 😃

Just caught up with all of your modular episodes and it has been a great watch 😎 I am doing something simile myself, albeit mine is designed to run outside on our patio and then be stored in sections in the roof of my shed! 😜 It has taken a long time but it has been worth it. Thankfully it is edging toward a state of (near) completion, with the power box/control panel the last thing to do...though I suspect it will be far from a smooth ride 😂 I hadn’t planned to do much in the way of scenery simply because of the way it has to be stored, but seeing your efforts has made me reconsider. After all, even the most basic of scenery, I.e. ballast and bushes, makes all the difference!👍😃 Good luck with the rest of it: really look forward to the next update 🍀🍻
