Today we are going to build a monster fogponic machine capable of propagating 67 cuttings at the same time. See the proof of how effective the fogponic machine is in the results of our earlier video.
Here are the products used in our video if you should like to purchase for your own fogponic machine.

You can extend the life of your Fog pucks and cut the heat they generate by (1) calculating the time it takes to just overflow your tub with fog. (2) calculating the time for the fog to settle halfway down. Set these ON/OFF times into an Ebay dipswitch-programmable interval timer board (110V) and connect your Fog pucks. (I use 2 min. ON/ 12 min. OFF). It's very energy efficient, makes little heat, and prolongs the life of your pucks.

goofy,, you are making it too difficult, just keep the water level about 6 inches from the top, i run my foggers 24 hours a day and have keep them going for over a year only stop them to clean the plates on the foggers. I dont even worry about heat on the pucks as i do not place my fog machine in the sunlight and usually i welcome more heat to keep the temp at 70-75 degrees. The secret is to keep in in a well lit spot but not direct sunlight. During the winter i even place an aquarium heater in the tub to maintain the 70 f water. The beauty of the fog machine is to keep it simply but effective.

I made the fogponics box. Its truly a wonderful concept. I felt that now that it has turned hot here in Oklahoma my cuttings are drying out before rooting. Went to Lowes and they had a clear box which is identical construction and size. Turned upside down on top of the fogponics box it turns it into a greenhouse enclosure that I believe will retain moisture and will prevent premature drying of cuttings prior to rooting. Next day humidity seen inside. Hope this is not too much moisture. My Grandmother used to stick rose cuttings in the ground then place a fruit jar over it. That worked for her. Jar must not be located in direct sun or jar will cook cuttings inside.

So how do you deal with the heat? I have a 4x6" four transducer fogger in a 50L container and after running it for two days the water temperature went up maybe 50 degrees. I don't think it's going to make very many roots with an chamber temperature over 130F

i want my water to be at 70F. Plants cuttings will root faster in the warmer temps, In the winter i keep a aquarium heater in my tank, but as it is next to an outside panel in my greenhouse. Never a problem with using 2 foggers in 27 gallon tub. Perhaps your fogger is to much, cut back to using two. But 50F is not an problem

hi! two more questions for you. 1) what is your outdoor humidity there? I'm in AZ and its DRY here. I'm concerned the cutting tops might dry out here. 2)what are the ratchet straps for? to hold the storage bin from collapsing with the weight of the water? thanks for the video!
@marcelinanoss8825
@marcelinanoss8825 5 ай бұрын
our humidity here can vary from season to season, but i know your in AZ is much less. I would make sure that your propagator wasnt in the sunlight. As long as you have the bottoms of your cuttings in the fogponics i dont think your cuttings will dry out as long as you dont use really thin cuttings. Experiment and see. and Yes the straps are to prevent the side from bulging out. When i fill the tub with water the pressure pushed the sides out and the top wouldnt fit. The straps worked ok, but i cut out some 2 x 10 wood frame and that worked like a champ,

Do I put in the HydroDynamics Clonex Clone Solution before they even have roots on the plants??? I would think it would just be a waste of solution until the plants have some roots to absorb the nutrients. Then add the solution. What is your advice?
@marcelinanoss8825
@marcelinanoss8825 Жыл бұрын
we use it before and after. Its not going to dissipate so as your plants begin to sprout roots it will greatly enhance and speed up your rooting. Will your cuttings root without it? yes, but once they root a little it will feed your new plant since there is no nutrients in the water

@D-d-dvon
@D-d-dvon Жыл бұрын
@@moongloomable I'd recommend against this for anyone reading this comment. I saw this and got the 1 7/8 based on this suggestion. It's quite snug as moongloomable mentioned, so even the pots without the lips will stay fine. Problem with this is that it's REALLY snug. And it can actually squeeze the stems too much on softer wood. Also much tougher to take out the netpot and collars when it's that snug. I'm still using the one I built with this setting for harder wood though. I'd recommend staying with the recommendations in the video. 2 1/6 inch(55mm) hole saw. 2 inch netpot WITH LIP. Once you have the lip, it'll fit real nice, but also be super easy to pop in and out for both netpot and collar. Which is helpful when you have between 26-30 cuttings in

****Update**** Overheating - 86F My reservoir jacked up to 86F. This was with running the setup 24/7, and the water 6 inches below the top like the video mentioned. Had to use ice to cool it down, which isn't ideal since it changed the PH as well as adds water to the reservoir. Froze some water bottles to use instead, but still not ideal. Rigged a PC fan to a DC power cord and put it through one of the holes but didn't do much. Location was in a shaded garage. Eventually had to move it inside with the A/C. Even with the A/C at 66F, it still climbs slowly. When it hit 72 I put in another bottle of frozen water with the cap secured. Working on potential fixes. Side note would be that my intention to add a 3rd fogger and float would not be possible until the cooling issue is solved. ****Original**** I built this machine with a standard 27 gallon tote (the monster one in the video is 55 gallon I believe) and am loving it. A few observations for anyone planning to do the same: -2 foggers and 2 floats are missing some of the inserts at the ends of the lid -Where you see the holes in the lip of the container is a great place to saw a tiny indent in the top lip for the power cords to run through and close lid flush -Remember to grab the Netpots with LIPS. The 2 inch ones in the description. Without the lips, your pots will fall straight through the 2 1/6 hole. -Using the air pump in the link in description of video gives you 2 air stones. But not much air. Wondering if potentially 2 air pumps and 4 stones might be better?

@@marcelinanoss8825 Tried that. Even with the foggers and pump off for 4 hours the temperature was still rising. So it seems the actual container is getting hot from the 30C and 80% humidity weather here, which is heating up the reservoir water. Moved inside with A/C for now. Maintaining a steady 68-72F. Hibiscus cuttings are alive but no roots after 10 days. Funny thing is some leaves started to sprout on a couple cuttings at the bottom where the roots should be coming out 🤷‍♂

What I do is time how long it takes for the fogger to fill up the grow chamber . Then time how long it takes for the fog to dissipate. Then time how it takes for your roots to show that they need water. ( no water beads on the roots). Then adjust your times accordingly. This is for growing only. When growing you don't want your roots constantly wet. For example times in growing would be 30 seconds on and 10 minutes off. When cloning just leave the fogger on 24/7. Then once the roots are established adjust accordingly. I hope this helps.
