Just built the pagoda design on top of a very-high, tiered stone pedestal in the Mistlands. It actually renders from quite far away. Made a portal hub on the second floor for my community. This was a very fun project!

Thanks! Yeah these mountains kinda remind me of the floating mountains in China, so a pagoda just felt right!

I love the way that you explain the process of making your build so simply! I've been looking for videos to help me get better at building in valheim and this is perfect ♥️ Subscribed!

Absolutely the best I've seen so far with the marble! You've done an amazing job of blending it with the wood. I'm scared of building in the Mistlands, so much effort, then you turn off creative mode and stand back while the bugs fly in and wreck it :(

Thanks Joanne! Yeah, unfortunately Mistlands is an absolute BRUTAL location to build in while in survival mode so you would definitely have to beef up the defenses for sure

You can build in Mistlands with 100% safety. 1. Look for a series of hills/rocks that are not on steep terrain. (Steep terrain leads to accidental roof collapses and the ground you can level will lead to a steep and useless incline). 2. Before you make an enormous cave base, decide on the door, but don't cut it out. Instead, angle at 30 degrees from the left or right until you reach the spot. This way giall cannot line of sight your door. Keep the path narrow so seekers also cannot use it. 3. Outside, note where the super big, spear like rocks are. These must not be hit. Once inside take out all the smaller rocks and the floor as it allows. If in doubt, take screenshots -you need to know your rocks. 4. Once mined out. fill in any small holes with black marble/iron cage and put roof pieces under them (tar pieces are sharp and match the sharp dark rock asthetic inside), or there will be no comfort bonus in that spot. You should end up with about 3 gentle levels (stone stairs) and room for everything. 5. Raise the ground wherever possible outside e.g. try to bury door sides. The cave base will still trigger attacks - they will hang out noisily, then leave.

Love this! 💚 The location is so stunning and the idea of platform builds in between rocks makes me all excited! Wonderful to get a talkthrough vid again too. That custom staircase blends so well with the environment, cannot believe how clean you've got that one.

Thanks so much! Yeah I thought this concept would work out nicely here. The mistland mountains kind of remind me of the floating mountains in China, so Pagoda immediately came to mind :) yeah the staircase did work out rather well! Sometimes the extra time and work of using the customer floor technique definitely pays off! Thanks for watching and appreciate the support!

This was awesome. What a perfect concept for this area. My visit into the Mistlands on the public test branch was so dark, I couldn't hardly see anything, so I'm thrilled to see there are places where it's not pitch black. And your portal structure has forever changed how I will place portals. My server mates will be so thrilled lol.

Thanks Fade! Yeah I love the idea of dressing up portals! Really adds a nice bit of flair to an otherwise standard Item. I'm actually going to be making a video on a couple of design concepts I've developed for different parts of the game, Early --> End Game. Stay tuned! Appreciate the support :)

I love this, Loved the end result. Building into the environment is what i love to do too. I think we're now getting into which textures work with the black marble and which don't. I've been using single layers of stone and framing them in wood and it adds a nice break to the all dark marble.
@smittysurvival

Thanks Canorous! Yeah I love the bold unique look of the marble, but it certainly doesn’t go with everything so it’s fun to mix and match to see what works! Great idea on how to break up all the marble look. Sometimes it can be a little too much if you don’t get some contrasting colors in there lol

@@smittysurvival oh yeah i learned that lesson in my forge interior; the weapons hung on the wall just blend in too much with the marble. but i plan on fixing that in the future builds ^^ i did post a video of the build if you'd like to check it out maybe i can get some pointers from you on improving things XD

Nice build Smitty, perfect location choice and those lamps on the pagoda corners really bring it to life! I got unreasonably excited at 6:45 when I noticed the forge upgrade that has water in it... can't wait to find out if it can also do 'Hot Tub Flying' shenanigans 😆

Another excellent vid, Smitty! Particularly loved the way you took extra time to film progress during the build process (using 2 PCs?) and then narrated over it. Taking notes for my channel over here lol! I'm working on a very similar build on a built platform around a tall rock in the Mistlands. Even started as a pagoda concept like yours, but scrapped that for something much different and more...grand. Probably the biggest build I've done...certainly the most iron used. I wanted to start small like your first 2 Mistlands builds, but something about the Mistlands lends itself to grandiosity. Anyway, I was really struggling to think of good ideas and patterns for my outdoor sculpture garden section, but your portal structure and wisp fountain shrine served as the PERFECT inspiration for concepts. Amazing stuff as always! Cheers, Homi

Awesome build and Cinematics. The black marble is fantastic. Why no marble pillars to support the structure? Wood seems not sturdy enough for me.

Good question on the marble pillars. I thought about using marble, but I thought the wood contrasted better with the surroundings and marble platform above. I do see you point though that wood might not make sense in reality lol

I came for the build, I stayed for the EDITING - I am subbed! Timelapse shots, cinematic shots, tracking text, key frames galore, I literally have no idea how to do any of those text effects 😂😂😂 what software Dyu use? I haven’t justified buying Davinci pro yet but after seeing pro effects in a Valheim vid, I just might have to get it! Amazing video skills mate :)

Thanks so much Jelly Jam! So nice to see someone who has the editing eye and recognizes the hard work! Big fan of your content as well, you've really been taking off recently which is great to see! Well deserved - your content is HIGH quality stuff! This was my first time trying to get into the animation side of editing, and it's super daunting, to figure out, and takes a bit of time but It's a really cool once you get the hang of it, and managing all the key frames! I actually use Davinci Resolve (Free Version) You can do simple fusion animations without getting the studio/pro version which is great! Fusion is really confusing at first, but this video by Casey Faris helped me understand the basics of creating your own simple animations and setting key frames kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d5uhra6fmLWYkps.html

@@smittysurvival dude I USE DAVINCI too 🙈 so excited to try some of this stuff, though it seems daunting alright and it works so well with a building vid like your one here, tbh I just want to learn that tracking text that pulls away with the shot, that looks so dope! Thanks so much for the kind words and the help, really excited for your next vid!!!

This is a wonderful base, although I believe if you make builds factoring in fully functional and midgame-endgame storage areas (or at least space for them) that would be truly ideal.
