Thank you for this!!! I’ve watched a lot of pallet fence videos but this one is the simplest and most logical. What are you using to attach each pallet to the next one? Regular short screws? Or something fancy? Thanks!!!

I really like this fence. Affordable and very nice looking. This may be my project for next Spring. I want a arbor for the entry. I think that would be pretty. Thanks for the idea. Beautiful!
@OldWaysNewTimes4 жыл бұрын
I've wanted to put an arbor in the entry too and never did. Hurricane Dorian just took out the fence but since the pallets are free I'll just put it back up. Thank you so much for watching. :-)

Did u put something on the bottom so the ground humidity won't hurt them with time ? Thinking about doing some like this
@OldWaysNewTimes5 жыл бұрын
No for two reasons. The first is most pallets are made from hard wood like oak and second they are free. If something should happen we would simply replace the pallet. We had a hurricane here last September and had 15 inches of water under the house. The fence is fine.
@pattyhartmann89653 жыл бұрын
Awesome, however quick question? Does the wood rot faster as it is sitting directly on ground? Any drawbacks to this type of fencing ?
@OldWaysNewTimes3 жыл бұрын
This fence has been up for about 2 years and has gone through 2 hurricanes. A couple of places there is a little rot but that is behind the bushes that are there now. The beauty of this fence is we can either unscrew and that pallet and replace without taking down the whole fence or option is to remove the bad piece of wood and replace just that piece. We are very happy with the set up. Thanks for the question and for watching.

For the gate we used 1" x 3"'s hinges, a latch, screws and welded wire. Dimensions are determined by the size of the gate you are building.

@OldWaysNewTimes5 жыл бұрын
Sorry I missed answering you. There was a bit of traffic that day so you couldn't here the audio. Basically we used six and an half foot T posts. With a fence pounder we tapped the post into the ground until they were safely secured in the ground. Next we put the pallet over the post and screwed it to the prior pallet. Thanks for watching.
@ReligiousZombie4 жыл бұрын
That gate will sag in no time. It has no diagonal brace.
@OldWaysNewTimes4 жыл бұрын
We used the gate for 4 years before the last 2 years on the pallet fence. A tree limb is what took it out.
@OldwaysSteve4 жыл бұрын
We built a pair of them to close off our driveway. They were up for 4 years there with no problems. When we upgraded the driveway gates we repurposed these two gates to the pallet fence. They didn't sag there either; however the big pine branch that fell on one did break the 1x3's.
@chris2crazzy4 жыл бұрын
In reality how sturdy is it though
@OldWaysNewTimes4 жыл бұрын
Well it' survived hurricanes Florence and Dorian. Except where the tree limb fell on it. Then all I had to do is unscrew that section and put a new pallet in. But what are you trying to use it for? Keep dogs in yes it's good, livestock maybe need something stronger.
