Merlin A lot of places throughout the country don't have major hospitals. There might be a level V trauma center close by, but a lot of the time, you call the local doctor and tell him you're coming in with x injury, and he gets out of bed or leaves thanksgiving dinner to fix you up, or to stabilize you for transport to a hospital.

A lot of people build their dream homes or "compound", almost all of them with massive help from other people. There are compounds that cost $100 Million or more, but this one is arguably the greatest I've ever seen because 1) You designed it and built it yourself from scratch. 2) You probably did it on a budget (bargain for what you actually accomplished). 3) That lot/parcel and natural setting is simply amazing, and you seemingly made the best possible use of it. Those rock formations are simply amazing. And you built a man made fortress into a natural fortress. Well done.

When I had a 17 ton Terex boom truck, it had a wireless remote control, you wore the unit on your waist. It didn't interfere with wearing a nail belt, and I built my entire 40' by 60' shop myself, quite easily. The German made remote cast 14 K though! You can pick those old Pettibones up for about that, and any crane is better then no crane. Nowadays I operate a 30 ton National with a heated and air conditioned cab, with SAT radio, and 110' of main boom, life is sweet! Good work Andrew!

Finally, someone that was able to use shipping containers and NOT use them in such a way they are doomed to collapse or fall in on themselves. Nice job.... Not only did you use the design strength of the containers properly but added support to the weak links.... Those who have not worked around containers, pay attention... this was done correctly. Love the work ethic, not seen to often in the younger folks these days. (I purchased a built in 1931 2500 sqft home for $40k. Most the cost was the land it was on... I spent 363 days working on it and had it appraised to get a loan for a garage....Just the house appraised for $235K and I paid cash for everything to that point..... YOU all can do it if you just try}

Dude, you inspired me to build something (smaller scale) like this. Can you provide us with a cost analysis (nothing fancy) between the container castle build up vs. a concrete build up of the same dimensions, I am sure we (your followers) are curious. Thanks, and great job man, very inspirational, you are living the life.
