Ive been mining and cutting stone for nearly 25yrs and I must say im impressed with your stone work. It always shows when someone puts "Love" into the things they do! keep going with this, it takes a special person to achieve this level of precision. You can make a VERY good living doing stonework like this. I'd charge around 10K ++ to build that to give you an idea

This is exactly what I do! And yes you can! Just like anything else it's a skilled trade. Not I don't have 25 yrs. More like 5, but I LOVE it!

@Buster Noggins look up roman aqueducts they are built in thevsame way just with concrete or stone and they have lasted hundreds of years

That looks like too much hard work for $10K. Not that I'm afraid of hard work but day after day for years has to take a toll on your body. As an art as well as a trade, I'd say it's worth more than that.

This was done well. Both the construction and the storytelling structure. You gave us the interesting bits while incorporating basic functionality. And then you spent the second half clearing and defining the details for those of us who are genuinely interested. This is solid work.

Well, here it is, over 2 years since you posted this video and I'm just now discovering you. Absolutely beautiful build! I've always wished I had the land and stone, not to mention the knowledge, to be able to do something like this. Now that I have a touch more knowledge...time for the land and the stone. thank you.

Nice design, nice build. If I were to take on this project I would have screwed a long, rotating "clock hand" to the center of the wooden form, and used it to make sure that all the bluestones of the arch aligned with the circle's radii - all the way around to just below the ground.
@lukehoffman9742
@lukehoffman9742 Жыл бұрын
would be really easy to do that with the trick he uses for cutting the wood circle too - tie a string to the center!

As a skater who unfortunately can't skate anymore but loves creating stuff this is awesome to see some of my favorite skaters making cool shit. Chris Cole works more in the world I'm used to does woodworking, Anthony Pappalardo is also a woodworker, Manny Santiago welds and does carpentry, and now seeing Dave making some cool stuff out of rock is amazing!

You also have a really good feel for the physics and budget of the whole thing. You're still young but you're clearly really talented and will definitely go far in life. Love your video, highlight of my evening.

Good advice. Especially the taking a step back to lool at your work. This is one of the most important ways to save yourself trouble later by seeing little mistakes that will turn to big mistakes the further you build upwards

Amazing work... I have often been fascinated by how you get the stones on the top of the archway to stay in place. You think there's nothing holding them in there, it's all done using pressure of the other stones... If the right amount of force is applied to each side of the stone it stays. So that as you go around the arch the pressure builds but you need to keep it even at the top else it will squeeze up and the whole thing will explode like a rock volcano without the lava... 😮😊 I am glad that you were the one building this as I would end up with an enormous pile of rubble and a few bolders 😂😅😂
