Indeed this episode, the turns truly were tabled. And speaking of diesels needing service, kAN should check out the story of the Canadian National locomotive 3502 and why that had to be serviced after it did a thing... 😉

The reason for the legal drinking age being 21 in the US, is because at the time, that was when people believed brain development stopped, specifically the part dedicated to decision-making. Alcohol can impair and alter brain development, so they didn't want you to drink until it stopped developing. That is also why the age of voting used to be 21, but it was lowered to the age of the draft, because they were protests about being allowed to die in war but not to vote. The actual age is 25. So, technically, the drinking age should be 25. At least, as far as I know/remember.

Funny thing about drinking in the US, specifically in Wisconsin you can legally drink at any age as long as you have a parent, gaurdian, or spouse that is over 21 with you.

A question for Hyce in the next episode, did the various narrow gauge railroads over there ever have dual gauge (narrow and standard gauge) roundhouses, including a dual gauge turntable? Here in Australia, there were/are a couple that are still dual gauge and one preserved roundhouse in Peterborough (South Australia) is a triple gauge facility (narrow, standard and broad gauges).

Kan i think you should use a climax, goat, or shay to run the switchback when you do the 20 car runs because it will be hard on your road engines to do the two percent climb with that many cars plus you could build a shunting area with sand, water, and fuel to keep your climbing train stocked but also keep you road engines there as you climb off the main line. Addendum if you get a shay or another climax name it cliff jumper

hey kAN, started playing myself lately, few ideas ya might like from the Fauqet Rail co., handcars at the buying loadout area, i set them to push my new purchases out and then 2% reg reverse back in, makes getting the cats out much easier. second, i just ran logs to sawmill and beams to depot, 20 cart trains with glenbrooke worth bout 1500 a run and a 20 min round trip. you could just make an episode of you guys doing like 3 or 4 runs with some of the always enjoyable dialog. just did this and got a class 70 ez.

want a very interesting and little-known (for foreigners) story? It's about a person who was, Steam locomotive engineer, locomotive mechanic, Mechanical engineer specialized in combustion engine, climber, cyclist, inventor and among his inventions, he “also” invented the plane (???WHAT???) I recommend giving a brief look at the history of Santos Dummont

Just noticed but every other train has that plow thing at the front. If the class 70 has one it should be train number 21 instead of 13 to keep the pattern going. Maybe a "Hyce"ler can be number 13 with how often Hyce bins it.

Yo bro the making the track for the round house you should use the 2 beams on the turn table to line up the next run and I would recommend that you throw a switch on most of the round house for extra capacity the engine shed is 2 lane anyway

this made me sad, because there was a perfectly fine roundhouse where I live, but they took it down, instead of making it into a railroad museum. Now there's just an empty plot (or "brownfield" or whatever). about the turntable, I think there's one more type you didn't mention: a mechanical (gear and chain) one - you turn a crank and it, well, turns

So i wanted to see if they ever made a complete circle round house so I ask hyce bout it then the algorithm reminded me of the B&O RR Museum roof collapse of 2003. 15 years ago near windgap PA there's a round house on private property i was granted permission to photograph in situe. It was 90% intact just missing some window panes. Had original locks from the late 1800 early 1900s and has been locked since the 1930s. The Windows are high up and there weren't drones or selfie sticks then. They said only film what i can safely get. Theres also an old steam shovel and steam powered dragline. This is the land of whiskey coal and concrete. The anthracite road, road of the black diamond, yada yada yada.nipples.

so since you seem to look at the comments to ask hyce questions... why do some steam locomotives have 3 domes? Ive seen several early ones with 3 domes, but also some later steam locomotives with 3, and want to know why, and advantages/disadvantages for this.
@ivovanzon164
@ivovanzon164 Жыл бұрын
That sounds like a German locomotive. These usually are Nassdampf (saturated) , heissdampf (superheated) and one or two sand domes. The idea behind th is to separate the appliances feed from the cylinder feed to reduce the amount of water entering the cylinders. If it's rebuilt at Meiningen, usually only one of the domes is functional

There may not be a parallel here, but I work at a grocery store, and night-stock has no clue what’s going on. Do they run 50% more pallets than day stock? Honestly depends, but they make up for it by not overstocking, but overfacing (making it hard to find empty stock) and leaving 1/4 full boxes at the ends of the aisles, instead of in the backroom on a pallet or overstocked on the shelf, cluttering the aisle.
