Pedal To The Metal

Pedal To The Metal

5 жыл бұрын

Entire build took roughly 3 months of everyday grind after work and weekends, 400 sbc and th350 came out of Wisc out of a 74 impala. The rear gear was changed before me as it has a 4:10 gear ratio with the mini spool right now. Total cost with buying the vehicle, motor, trans, and all the bits was about 2,700 start to finish and that's with the exhaust getting done. leave a comment and let me know what you think! what do you guys want to see coming up?

Pedal To The Metal still working on mine what radiator did you use
@pedaltothemetal3871
@pedaltothemetal3871 5 жыл бұрын
Not sure what it is as it came with the rolling shell but it's 16" tall and roughly 28" wide 2 row. Right now it has 2 10" pull fans and I'm switching to 2 12's because I have a hard time keeping cool at idle with a hood on. It's only a 2 row radiator but I figure upgrade the fans first and try and if anything else change radiator and already have a good set of fans for it

The 2 12's came today and I hooked them up and it helps big time but still creeps up past 230 with the hood closed, hood open and idling it'll stay around 190 all day. Looks like an Amazon 3 row is next on the list

@@pedaltothemetal3871 I'm looking forward to it. I'm finishing my 84 s10 4×4 with a 350 in now. I'm losing trans fluid somehow and rethinking my shift kit bc I'm sure it's going to grenade my rear end soon

@Jay Rogers Are you open dif and what spline count are you? I'm running a stock rear with 4:10 gear with 28 spline and a mini spool. I only have a few hundred miles on it but I know people running a 5.3 with a cam only and a 5 speed hitting hard with street radials and it's holding up just fine. I wouldn't worry too much about it right now

Pedal To The Metal did you cut the tabs on the mounts and use the upper slots ?
@pedaltothemetal3871
@pedaltothemetal3871 4 жыл бұрын
@@mayhemracing3895 I did not have to cut the tabs, the ones on the blazer only had the one option but on the 87 pickup I was able to use the upper mounting holes without cutting the bottom slots from what I recall. I can look once I get home here

Pedal To The Metal ok thanks I got the jtr mounts and right now I’m using lower holes and motor sits a little too high and angled might cut holes and go with upper slotted closer to motor

Great build , what gear ratio did you go with ?
@pedaltothemetal3871
@pedaltothemetal3871 Жыл бұрын
It ended up having a 4:10 gear ratio, my s10 pickup has a 3:42 with the nv3500 with overdrive. That one's way nicer lol

@@pedaltothemetal3871 cool , I’m going to look at a 86 s10 blazer that’s pretty clean with the V6 in , but if I can get it I’ll swap it to a v8 with a 350/350 373 gearing
@pedaltothemetal3871
@pedaltothemetal3871 Жыл бұрын
@@mikepoint4717 alright, just be careful because even tho the stock 10 bolt will hold up to more power than people say they do you gotta be careful with it. The early s-series had a 26 spline axle while the ones from the 90's-2000's had a 28 spline and are a little bit stronger. Wheel hop is what breaks axles so as long as you can prevent that it'll last forever. If you run a 28" tire with the 3.73 gears you'll be at 2685 rpm at 60mph

@@pedaltothemetal3871 hey thanks for the quick response I most definitely will up grade the rear diff to the 28 spline . My build plan is to have a good cruiser with a mild cam . I haven’t been in the car seen for some time now and want this to be a fun build . Thanks again for great advice . New sub here . Cheers 🍻
