@@woodyfarmersbigjaunt hey! I was just wondering what wood, glue, etc did you use for this?
@woodyfarmersbigjaunt3 жыл бұрын
@@brettholland7040 I used pine 1x4’s but any good hardwood should work just nothing soft like cedar. I use West system marine epoxy to glue all the boards together and then I also use that to seal the board up after everything is done. Marine epoxy is way more expensive than wood glue but it’s essential if you want your board to last. Hope that helps 🤘

Sick riding man .One of my favourite videos of all time. Quick question. To stop water from getting in the board do you coat the whole thing in epoxy and if so how do you do this?
@woodyfarmersbigjaunt3 жыл бұрын
Thanks I appreciate it! Yes I seal all my boards with epoxy, I like to use a tabletop or marine epoxy and pour it over the bottom of the board until it drops over the edges then use a brush around the edges where it’s drips. Hope that helps

Really well done. How many layers of epoxy for the bottom?
@woodyfarmersbigjaunt3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I do it like table top epoxy, so I just pour it thick enough that it self levels and runs off the sides, it uses a lot of material but creates a really durable thick base
@j.holmstrom_wake455 Жыл бұрын
Hay man amazing build and video quick question approximately how much epoxy do you use per board 🤔
@woodyfarmersbigjaunt Жыл бұрын
Thanks, it really depends on how you build the board and seal it. I use a lot extra by pouring a tabletop style layer on the bottom rather than rolling or brushing it on but I’d say I could probably get 3-4 boards out of a gallon of resin.

Thanks! It’s a been a while since I built it so I don’t remember everything but I always build my boards 40 inches long and 15.75 inches in the middle with an 3 stage abrupt rocker line with roughly a 15 inch flat spot in the center or the rocker, sorry I don’t have more info, hopefully that helps a little

What kind of griptape ar you using? and how you put on the logo?
@woodyfarmersbigjaunt3 жыл бұрын
On this board I used some old aquarium grip tape that isn’t available anymore but I’ve found that mob grip from a skate shop works the best, the logo is just a T-shirt logo cut out and inlaid in the epoxy sealant

Hi! Great video! Is there fiberglass on it? Can the board still hold? What are the experiences?
@woodyfarmersbigjaunt2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I just did a layer of glass on the of this one but the boards where I glassed both sides did hold up better. I think a sheet of clear hdpe on the bottom would be the best solution, I just don’t have a press or vacuum bag to do it.

What kind of wood and glue did you use? And where can I get a template to cut out each piece?!
@woodyfarmersbigjaunt5 жыл бұрын
Landon Garrett I use West Marine epoxy with the slow hardner to adhere the pieces together and also to seal the board, if you use wood glue or cheap epoxy the board won’t hold up, also you can throw a sheet of Fiberglass over the bottom to hold it all together even better. As far as a template goes I would take your favorite board and use the rocker line from that (I like an abrupt 3 stage with a 15-16 inch flat spot in the center) since that is what effects the ride of the board the most and then draw out the concave to your liking so you can do steep or mellow, short or long kicktails etc. Also just so you know there’s a good chance that it will cost you more to build the first one than to buy a deck from a brand like Watermonsters or Virtue but if you enjoy the work it’s worth it and once you have all the tools it gets cheaper, and you can build multiple boards from one kit of epoxy. Sorry for the long winded response, hope it helps ya out

Different Frequencies really appreciate the fast and detailed response, I do very much enjoy projects like these and putting in the work, custom is always better!

Hey I’m curious what you made the concave pieces from? And how you attached them Thanks
@woodyfarmersbigjaunt2 жыл бұрын
I just cut 1x 6’s to size for the nose and tail and 1x4 for the side concave. Then use epoxy and c clamps to glue them to the deck. Once everything cures sand it down to get the shape you want. I like to start with a flap disk on a grinder then smooth everything out with a palm sander. Hope that helps
@woodyfarmersbigjaunt2 жыл бұрын
Actually I forgot on this board the nose and tail concave is built into the stringer then I just used 1x4 for the side concave

@woodyfarmersbigjaunt Жыл бұрын
I think it was 1 1/2. Your best bet is to just take a board you like and trace that rocker, the length of the flat spot in your three stage rocker will have a big effect of the speed of your board and how it tracks/pops
