You need to convert your Modular’s on to mills plate. It’s easier to do it sooner than later.

You can build mils plates and sit the buildings on them

It’s coming along great. Are you just going to keep it in the city theme or going to branch out. I love the new Barad-dur set from lotr license. It will go along great with my Rivendell. Do you have a place where we can send you stuff to help with your city?

Eventually I’d like to branch out with a woods section for more miscellaneous sets. I also LOVE both LOTR sets and really want to get them. For a while I wanted it just to be a city but then I thought wait I can do whatever I want! So that’s what I’m going to do. No views? You have one now. I've met with the same problem with bases. Corner curling and thickness issues. I use the base plate just for playing with the grandies. My grandson is only five but he can tell when something is not a real Lego piece. They feel different and he won't play with them, even the ones that are produced under license, so I won't be buying them for him agian. Looking forward to seeing how your city progresses.
