Howdy my Friend, I hope you are doing well, I really enjoy your content and have also enjoyed learning how you tackle and maintain your arcade games, I've been playing the classic arcade games since they debuted in the 80s, I was born 1970, so I got to grow up in the height of all these Amazing new games, as they came out, the only thing about your channel I wish for, is more videos lol Thank you for the Great content, stay safe my Friend, Peace

out of all videos i have come accross yours was the best video to show and explain a simple way of hooking up the whole power circuit getting it ready to be able to connect to a pcb board for game play ive been searching for a video like this for the last 2 days i had the old power transformer and was wondering if i could just take the old transformer out completely and be able to just use the switching power supply so after watching your video now i no what im doing thank you.

What a helpful video, just what i was looking for! As a fresh arcade owner it was confusing for me to understand all those electrical components and cables, plus it's 4 games machine so everything is x4 (although i still don't understand why i have 4 isolation blocks when there's only one monitor)

This is awesome. Been wondering how to do this for a while. Had a general idea but this clears up a lot of questions. Any chance you could post links to where you get your parts from? And the specific ones you used in the video? Thanks again for this wonderful video.

Most of this stuff you can get from Mouser Electronics, or I also like arcadeshop.com for certian things. Things like the connector block or wire connectors you can just grab from Amazon or any local electronics parts store. When I buy these items I ususally buy a lot of em, since I know I will need extras i the future. I'm not too loyal to any one resource to be honest LOL.

8:50 Many think of those filters as protecting the device... What they really do is limit spurious emissions from the device. Therefore it protects other devices. FCC part 15 type of thing... Frankly I don't know who pays attention to 47/15 any more because I can frequently see USB chargers, and even my Keurig on my scopes. Any interference on your games is going to require appropriate shielding and a single drain. I get a little uneasy not providing a ground to at least the power supply, but ideally the supply and transformer. Everything playing on the same ground plane makes for predictable results when something goes wrong. Just my nickel coffay shop speech.

What about changing out the 120 volt marque light to an LED 5 volt or I have seen 12 volt tube LED or florescent lights that run on 12 volt for automotive lighting ? It would use less wattage as well

Thanks a lot for the class! This was helpful! I really like the fuse you put at the start, that is brilliant! Everything is good, but can you put links on where you get of the components from? That way we can purchase the correct items. Thanks again and great video! 👍 ?

Would there be a benefit to run a jumper from the line filter green wire back to field ground on the power supply? Very nice work I was jw why FG wasn’t hooked up on the switching power supply

I have a galaga arcade cabinet and I need to connect a wire that is is connected to the speaker and on the metal frame of the monitor ( it was originally like that to ground it). So those two wires would go on the bottom of the screw of the EMI filter or the isolation transformer? And dose that method applies to other transformer that looks likes yours for ground?

What's the difference in the line filter and isolation transformer? Are they performing separate roles or do they kinda like complement themselves

Why does arcade games use a 10,000uf to 20,000uf filter capacitor because that is a very big capacitance which most other types of power supplies for other circuits dont use 10,000uf to 20,000uf. There must be reasons why they are using 10,000uf to 20,000uf

Will this work with a neo geo cab 4 slot board
@VintageArcadeGal
@VintageArcadeGal Жыл бұрын
Maybe, it just depends on the set up… if you have an original Neo cab set up there are some drop in power supplies out there

I was wondering where to get a power system and what the voltages needed are Can you use a PC power supply that gives the 5 volts and 12 volts, or does it need more voltages ? Is there a link or more names and numbers ? I would like to buy a raspberry pi that has the 8000 games in 1 I bought a XBOX that has the 8000 games, but I don't like the controller I don't know if I could buy a USB joystick and buttons I see them on eBay and I have the Xbox to USB female adapter cable that allows me to plug in a USB stick It looks like it would work if the Xbox Linux has the driver's, but I really wish I had an arcade cabinet I was thinking about a raspberry pi and monitor and the USB joystick and buttons but I think I need an interface box that would take the USB joystick and buttons and convert them to what the pi needs, or vice-versa I was thinking about the Walmart mini 1up arcade games, and swap the joystick and buttons and put in the pi, but it looks like it is a big job, as much work as building a system, except for the cabinet I wish I could buy a cabinet I have some computer building experience and some electronics experience and some electrical experience But, if I can buy the parts ready made, it would be better I really wish 1up would make a game console that had like the top 20 games, like pac Mac, dig dug, donkey Kong and galaga, etc.
