Yo! Just thought I'd let you know you inspired me to build a 11ft floating desk for mine and my son's set up using this method. I used a desk top from and old metal desk I cut in half and re surfaced. I work in a fab shop so I was actually able to aquire the pipe for free. So far I am loving the results. Wish I could add pictures to yt comments lol. Anyway thank you for this video.

i like the idea, gonna go for a laminated top instead as they might resist bowing, but also has a top aesthetic i prefer. this design is perfect for my needs with a 1 year old running about can tuck the 2 chairs under, keeping things out of arms reach :)

Great idea. I just did only with a home depo kitchen counter top which I like because the lip on it totally hides the pipes unless you are looking from underneath. Also it has a little molded biltin backsplash. The only thing though is I have only done two rods and it is plenty strong but does wiggle a little bit when I am typing or lean on the counter. I will try adding a couple more rods but I don't think it will help. Just wondering if one else had this experience do to the depth.

Great video!! If you could do it over again, would you still use the 3/4" black pipe and flange? Or do you feel you could have gotten by with the 1/2" pipe and flange? Just wondering if I could save a little bit of money there, but if you feel it's exactly what you need, I may just go with the 3/4" anyway. EDIT: Just watched your follow up video! It answered my questions. Thanks man! Keep it up.

Most likely a few hundred pounds. If youre worried you can pick up L stands and put them two on the end and one in the middle. THen use the pipe method shown in the video. This would basically put the particle board as the weak link imo.

This is a really smart way of putting your desk together however, my advice for you is to buy 2 more monitors the same size (no need to be the same brand and too expensive). Then you can run an HDMI cable to your company laptop so it's not separated and you can hide it somewhere where it is not visible. or buy a stand from amazon which can hold both of your laptops closed, and really make sure to add some plants, pops or anything of your choosing to customize it and run some RGB. I know this might cost few bucks but does not need to be done just my opinion of how I would have done it with some of my own customizations and inspiration sitting on the table so it is not empty and at the same time, it gives a good vibe. Now I need to find out if I'm allowed to drill in my apartment walls THANKS!!!
