Just found your channel with a suggestion on your raising the house. Then I watched a couple of more and gave you a subscribe. Looks like right down my alley for projects. On your door, have you thought of trying a 'cup frame' using 'U' channel (architectural so you don't have fillet inside corners but right angles making it easier to fit)? This would give more guidance to wood movement keeping it flat, especially if you want to use a bit heavier a gauge. I have made 2x6 and 2x8 doors using 1/2" all thread at three places and recessing the ends to keep them invisible. Also built my woodworking bench thirty years ago with 2x4 glued like a butcher block after I ripped the rounded edges off, again using multiple all thread through rods every 12" (six foot bench). That has held up quite well. Recently added on to my shop and made super insulated doors 6 1/2" thick. The challenge there is to find the door hardware. The hinges were a piece of cake but making the dead bolt and knob have been a challenge. Even in this day of super insulated buildings no one seems to make door knobs and locks for thick doors with 2" being about max. I finally bought some German locks but again finding long bolts in 3mm is a problem to make them fit the thicker door. Turning and threading that small of material on my lathe is quite a challenge. I have three door sets to do if I get the one pioneered. I also have to drill a 6" long hole in a 5mm rod if I find a 3mm bit that long! It has been a back burner project for a couple of years which I hope to get to soon.

Go ideas, sounds like you have some cool projects also. I had thought about the u channel but I couldn’t think of a clean way to finish the wood to metal transition because the wood would be (trapped) in the steel channel.

Maybe a rabbit around the edge of the wood to make the metal flush? Also, for hanging doors check out the mounting channel electricians and plumbers use (brain fart can't remember the name) as it comes in different gauges has mounting holes in the top and they make rollers to fit for carrying doors etc. No way for your door to pop off as it is in the channel. EZ Strut. All kinds of accessories. Find it everywhere.
