Just noticed you built your foundation so near to the creek...a few meters from its edge would make a lot of difference in the structural integrity of your shelter..

Nice little getaway ! I would definitely stack cinder blocks underneath . The round foundation will not last long

I don't know, I have questions... The foundation looks super cheesy. Log rounds set in mud? Not even excavated ground but just set on top? That's it? The cabin is point blank on that little creek. What happens when it rains hard and it rises? The whole location is mud. The roof joists couldn't be more minimal. Why? Add a few more of a somewhat larger dimension. The frame for the hinged window/wall looks very flimsy indeed. Keeping into account the desire to keep it light, a few dimension elements like a triangle or two would give some integrity to it. I'm a little perplexed as they used some pretty good materials like the thick tongue and groove, painted everything with what appears to be linseed oil or similar, had some good design elements, but built everything on stumps in the mud that will rot and settle, betraying the structure.

If you check the original channel you will see that this A-frame was later burnt to the ground by local forest poachers, and the only thing that appeared to stay untouched after the fire are these log rounds, such an irony.

No way it's a house, it's a cabin at best lol. No insulation, literal holes in wall (can see light coming through). I cringed as he was putting the sealant tape around the big window lmao. It's a great video but no one is living here year round.

@@OriginalBlackmoorethese guys had built the weekend log deep in the forest. It wasn't their aim to live there all year around. But they did sleep there even in wintertime. They've built it to runaway from the city noise. Unfortunately someone had burnt their house. But they've bilt the new one

That is what I was thinking Julie. It is so cool to look at, but I can’t imagine building anything over a creek like that. I live in Washington State, and West Nile virus is also a concern 🤷🏻‍♀️. Still, what an amazing build, and cozy house.

Somebody has already set it on fire. The house got destroyed by some sort of poacher or someone like that, who didn't want any people in his forest. The guys have got a second channel, where they posted it

@@rkhip8951are you sure it wasn’t the woodstove that they stuck in there without a hearth and a heat shield, and didn’t want to admit the mistake? And at the 25 minute mark, you can already see the outside wall scorched by the heat coming off the stovepipe.

cute A-frame! you forgot to put rubber flashing though above the hinges of the transforming part of the roof. and you forgot to space the deck boards a little bit apart so that rainwater would just fall through them. nice vid though, makes me want to build one for myself too!

I think you probably should have used something other than what looks like 2x4s for your construction. They aren't really the best for stability and strength... especially at those spans. But, it's a great looking cabin.

Just woke up and this video was starting. Am a newbie to your channel. What an amazing build, and some superb establishing and transitional [is that the right word?], shots. A nice hot coffee early in the morning, I could easily take a couple of weeks of work and stay there with my dog. Leave all the electronics back home and just reset and chill. Brilliant.

Nah, this was definitely filmed just for views. They never had any plans to do anything with this build, and from what others are saying this thing burned down already (likely from the wood stove they put inside of it with no hearth or anything to protect the wood from the heat of the stove).
