Finally got round to this video! Sorry dude ! Awesome result dude!! But im going to have to do the rivet nerdy thing!!! Around the gun ports isnt a warning marker, what it is is that the gun ports were covered over using dope patches, wich when applied it was red. It was to stop any crud that could block the tinny gun barrels we used. But the colour was bang on it was quote a dark red

I know that I’m late to the “party” but I have to say that I’m really liking this video and the great result you produce on such a small model. We seem to be using some of the same items such as the H&S Infinity and AK Real Colors. However I’m not getting the same airbrushing results as you. Would you mind sharing what kind of thinner you normally use with the AK-RC and at what pressure you airbrush?
@ModellingWeekly
@ModellingWeekly 10 ай бұрын
Hey, I thin all my lacquers with Mr. Color levelling thinner, and have my airbrush set to about 15 or 20 psi :)
@HaroldClements

Hi, grate video and some new ideas on how to get a good breakup of the main colours using mottling. However, I have one question. You said you use Mr Mahogany Surface 1000 as the primer. How do you thin this? I am guessing Mr Color (Levelling) Thinner. I have tried this with the Mr Surface 1000 (Grey), but I found that the topcoat pulled off (along with the Mr Surface) when removing making tape (Tamiya). Have you experienced any similar or do anything else “special”? Note: I washed and dried overnight the model before working on it…
@ModellingWeekly
@ModellingWeekly Жыл бұрын
That's a very odd situation...you do indeed thin Mr surfacer with Mr color levelling thinner, and I've never had this issue so slightly confusing. My tip would be to slightly roughen up the surface of the model with 3000 grit sandpaper/sanding sponge, just to give it a tiny bit of extra adhesion that won't be noticeable once painted over 👍 good luck :)
@christiansexton7927
@christiansexton7927 Жыл бұрын
Fantastic job. How is your ratio thinner/paint on your colours?
@ModellingWeekly
@ModellingWeekly Жыл бұрын
Thanks! It varies a lot from colour to colour and brand to brand, and most of the time it's just done by eye - though I like to thin the paint down to a point that it has the consistency of milk, which generally seems to work

I have a question: how do you keep the glue control so precise when applying the photo etch parts?
@ModellingWeekly
@ModellingWeekly Жыл бұрын
I generally apply small dots of superglue with a toothpick, after squeezing a bit out onto some foil or similar surface! Hope this helps :)

Looking good there. I've always loved the Hurri, much more so than the Spit as it really carried much of the weight in the BoB with so little recognition. Not to mention in Greece and Africa, where it was usually just the Hurricane with obsolete fighters until it was joined by the P-40 Tomahawk in Africa. Such a sturdy lady who carried on.
@ModellingWeekly
@ModellingWeekly Жыл бұрын
Thanks very much! You're right, the Hurricane is criminally underrated and often overlooked, so it was fun to make a model of one :)

Enjoyed the video, but you seemed to spray straight over the canopy without masking it, but was no mention of cleaning it up. Can you elaborate please?
@ModellingWeekly
@ModellingWeekly Жыл бұрын
Glad you liked it! Kit came with two canopy options, open and closed - each using a different part. I wanted it open so I used the unmasked closed part to mask the cockpit whilst I painted the model :)
