I’m seeing a lot of comments about other creators doing this. For the record (to my knowledge) no one has attempted to take the blades from a shop fan and attach them to an actual motor. Everyone plugs in the fan to a generator, which obviously won’t propel the boat…

Personally, I'd use a dirt bike or small motorcycle engine that has an automatic trans and then fit a straight shaft to the fan. You can then use metal mesh gears or a belt system and modify them for more power if needed

Hey Flair. Maybe your carburetor got flooded with oil when the motor was tilted to the side in the bed of the truck. And another idea is installed the fan blade put a large enough washer behind it at the end of the shaft and drill a small hole and install a cotter pin. That will keep the blade from falling off.
@jameses7972 жыл бұрын
I think you might be in the right path with the larger fan. And shortening the shaft might help. IDK. But I would start with the engine first. Make sure it runs alone, before adding the fan. Then as a helicopter mechanic, you got to be careful about dinging up the blades, and bending them. At the speeds they turn the bends and dings will change the way they “fly” through the air. That will mess up the balance, and cause it to shake apart. But definitely make sure your engine is running good first.

Also, I’d start with checking the engine for spark first. Since you tried starting fluid and it didn’t really work, pull the spark plug, and clean it and all the connections to it.

Hello, Flair. To my untrained eyes, there isn't any difference in the quality of emergency preparedness offered by the doomsday shelter you built by your first backyard pond, and the nuclear missile bunker you toured. Still, if you buy the bunker, I hope there will be a catch, clean, and cook video where you use some of the supplies, such as the spaghetti sauce, that are stored in the bunker.

In my opinion you could leave the fan in its original cage. Mount it on the back of the boat. Ditch the whole orignal setup. (Keep the motor). Im guessing it is 3/4" shaft. Get some drive shaft from McMaster. Run the shaft through the fan with a bearing setup. And they make a deal that goes over both drive shafts and lock in with set screws. To fix your "Neutral" problem. Get a cvt setup. Like what's on snowmobiles. Then I would build a permanent stand for the motor and mount it in the boat. The fact that I just wrote this and Flair is just gonna look at it like I'm insane is just hilarious. 😂🤣

Brother! Make sure the engine starts without anything attached. I don't think you are getting spark because you used starting aid and she didn't fire off. Best way to check for spark is to remove spark plug and set the threads of the plug on metal on the engine, crank over the engine to see if there is spark. If no spark change plug with a working one and try again. I hope this helps cause I wanna see an homemade air boat!
