Good build, very useful! Personally, I'd go a little extra and add a stone/brick textured pillar of foam to one side, one tongue depressor wide. This way you could butt them together for a wall, or form them into a square for a cell. That's my inspiration from this video :)

As I watched you assembling the bars into the base and top, I thought it would be a nice finisher to have "stone" columns with channels in them to create connectors for the bar walls. Just a thought... I wish I had the money to go out and get the supplies to do a few of the projects for my DM... soon... because I want to give her some for Yule. Thank you for another awesome video!

This looks great. I just contributed a little for both this template and the Iron door. I would love to see more of these fun little template projects. Purchasing products is my preferred way to support you tube content creators such as yourself. I would love to see you put out another "large" template like your viking ship. Cheers!

Omg so I made some prison bars and discovered a neat technique that lets me cut all my toothpicks evenly. You line them up as properly as possible and tape them with the size of the bars, if done correctly it might move or bend like a bridge which looks amazing. But then you take some wire cutters and trim them along the edge of the tape leaving you with a ton of spikes which you can later use to turn a golem into an iron-maiden-from-resident-evil-4 looking monster! Helped me, hope it helps you 👍
@ocirus8055
@ocirus8055 5 жыл бұрын
I don't know how well it would work. Add some of your brick wall to one side and glue the top and bottom to it, leaving a gap between the bricks. Let the bars then rest unglued in the frame you have now and you could slide the gate into the wall like a pocket door. IDK if that works for you but I thought of it while watching the video.

New subscriber here. I've been binge watching your videos, and I am enjoying the work, the ideas and craftsmanship. As a longtime carpenter, and D&D player (Chainmail 3rd. just before the re-visioning), I know you can never have enough clamps in a shop. During this video, the clamps used seemed over-sized for the project. Have you thought to use what we in the theatre industry call a #1 wood clamp? A clothespin. Thanks for sharing your work.

After all the work you went through to get them, it seems like you skipped the step where you attached the tongue depressors - do they get glued to the U-channels while it's all clamped together, or do they go on after the channels are on the bars?

To make it easyer to peal off the bars and make the template last longer, I would slip it in a plastic protector. I also use them for my character sheets, so I can use a dry erase marker to write down HP and other temporary stats.
@BlackMagicCraftOfficial
@BlackMagicCraftOfficial 6 жыл бұрын
That’s a lot of unnecessary effort. You can just print extra copies. And gluing to plastic would be a pain. Besides two copies will make more walls than you’ll probably ever need.

any reason you use white glue instead of wood glue for this project? couldn't you give it a watered down wood glue wash to make it stiffer? or is all that just unnecessary and a simply white glue and primer would work?

That wasn't really about reusing the template, more about easier removing without cleanup. And right Frank, not actual laminating needed, just use a plate of glass or a sheet of plastic, or even just print it on photo paper.

Honestly I think its faster to scrape off a few tiny dots of paper that *might* end up on some areas than it would be to set up a glass/plastic overlay. Removing a dot of paper from all the pieces takes seconds....and you're probably already doing some sanding anyway.
