To avoid scratching your coil with the pliers you could wrap washi tape around it first before using the pliers. I watched someone do that on youtube - @juliesplans I think!

Honestly, the daily duo ALMOST the perfect planner. I don't mind the lack of week pages so much, but there NEEDS to be more note pages!!

I love how this turned out! Can you please do a video of how you actually are using this once you get started! I have been an hourly girl for YEARS, but now that the daily is here.... I am sure I'll switch... BUT..... to have the best of BOTH worlds, how awesome that would be too!!!!!

Thanks! I talk about this in my latest Plan With Me on how I plan on using it. It's actually working out perfect for me because I did the same thing with my current hourly and daily duo (I just changed the dates so I can start using it now rather than wait until July).

You did a good job. It can be scary uncoilingyour planner but some patience and being relaxed goes a long way. The planner I just switched from into the daily I frankenplanned a horizontal, hourly and monthly deluxe lol. It was definitely chunky. Thanks for sharing.

Next time you only need to open up one end of the coil. It only uncoils from one side. It makes it so much easier!

Omg Saray I just did my daily and hourly frankenplanner and I love it!!!! I had tried once before and it didn't work so I swore I would never do it again. But once I saw your post yesterday I was like maybe I'll give it one more try. It's actually going to save me from wasting my LP that I ordered last year. I always get the 18 month even though I know I'm going to want the new planner at launch. So I've got my July-December Daily Duo mixed with my kaleidoscope hourly LP. Now I've just got to wait until July to start using it!!! Thanks again!!! ❤️

You can get new coils from Limelife planners, various sizes, much easier to recoil.

Thanks for this video! When my Daily Duo arrives, this is what I am planning on doing as well. I tend to use a lot of stickers, so I was intending on separating them into 4 month segments across the 3 coils (2 from Daily, and 1 from Hourly) and maybe adding in some extra notes pages from a notebook. I ordered an 18 month Hourly, so I can use the smaller notebook coil to put the extra 6 months on, along with the monthly pages from the Daily set and give that away to a friend.

I’ve used the elastic bands EC sells as the “binder clip” bc it can hold all the pages together but since it isn’t as hard as the binder clip it gives the flexibility to slightly move pages to thread the papers easily. Tip for next time! 😊

Yes! It's not that easy in my opinion but definitely can be done if you want it bad enough. This is only my second attempt after many years of not doing this and the first time I also thought it be easy peasy because how others made it sound. I love the end result though!

I am still waiting for the day she sells her planners without the coil as an option. I can never get the coils back to normal so I stopped. You did a good job! I hope the setup works for you.

Without the coil AND without any holes punched so I can add to my other 3 ring systems...tried the EC binders and just couldn't, too many ring issues. Tried to uncoil/coil and it was a disaster 🥴. I wish I had the " touch" like others ( maybe it's patience lol).

This was so brave and you are so talented! I thought of doing this but (1) I am way to scared that I will mess it up (2) I think that I want to have my daily and weekly view open at the same time so I can work on both spreads a few times a week and not have to flip back and forth while I am working. Yes! I still definitely love it and would do it again for next year. It wasn't that hard to put together in retrospect and next time I would be easier since I already have a better idea of what worked and what didn't for the coiling and re-coiling

I love this idea! What made you choose hourly for your weekly layout instead of vertical/horizontal?

I tried horizontal for like 2 weeks, it didn't work. I'm a vertical gal all the way which I have been using for a long time now but decided I really wanted to try out the structure of an hourly. A couple of reasons for that - I tend to over plan so hourly gives me more realistic time frame, better time management and it matches the layout of the daily.

You can try to put thin fabric between the pliers so it wont damage the coil as much.

I use the weekly for an overview and I plan that ahead of the week. The Daily Duo I use to plan Day to Day and I include a lot more detail. Actually, I talk about this some moree in this week's Plan With Me May 18-24

Jewellery pliers work best as they don't mark the coil at all. Especially useful if you have a black/gold/rose gold coil. Also, use two sets of pliers to get the wire as straight as possible without putting strain on the rest of the coil, and potentially butchering it.

If ec would put the note page (located at the end of the month) on the backside of the dashboard, then we could mix the weekly and daily duo even easier and use the remaining guts as separate monthly pages with dashboard. I plan on doing something similar and using the remaining guts with the pages from the ec notebooks I’ve bought. I’ve also considered making my frankenplan into quarters vs 6mo sections.

Aaaaaa I can't decide if I want to do this! I don't like that I'd have the 2nd 6m just sitting in a box and that would make pre-planning really hard when it gets to like Nov and Dec and needing to look into Jan and Feb. Hi! Just a tip: You don't need to straighten the tucked--in metal loops on BOTH ends of the coil...just the end that you are going to uncoil back through the holes. HTH! M

I was really on the fence but I think you've convinced me! I have an extra 18 month coil so I'll be able to do both Daily Duos right away. I'll have to figure out how to get a second large coil next year. Hm, maybe I'll order my work planner now as an 18 month! Do you think there is enough room for growth for stickers??

I think so! I don't plan with no white space so that may impact how thick it can get but I think there still plenty of room for stickers.

Without filming, about 20 minutes. Filming adds a little more time.

I think the Binder or even just a dice based planner would have been easier.

Thanks! I prefer the coil planner since I cannot really flip a binder over like I do all the time with my planner. I also don't like when the pages in the binder bend on the inside over time due to the rings (they curl up around the hole side of the page). I'm not sure what a dice based planner is but I love the EC quality of the coiled.

So many great shops but I LOVE Planner Kate! I just got a giant haul and will be planning a lot with her stickers. No daily duo specific stickers though, I'm sure there will be in the near future

I don't want to ask stupid questions but why straighten both sides of the coil? You can only recoil from one side...🤔

I recoiled a couple and didn’t open one end. Another trick is to make the one you opened as round as possible so it follows the same path better. I love how brave you were!!

Wow, I love it! Not gonna lie though, I cringed a couple times watching the uncoiling and recoiling. I've never uncoiled a planner, but the thought of it seemed so daunting. You've given me courage though, so I just may attempt this some time later on in the year. My daily duo doesn't start until January, so I'm excited to watch your pwm in this new awesome planner of yours and draw more inspiration! Thanks for sharing!!

Thanks! But yes and not. My week is a high-level overview and my daily is much more detailed. I'll keep sharing pics of both on my IG so you can see the difference.
