Good job , I bought a cheap food trailer for my wife , 80 % solid except for an area of the floor that will need replacement , I will be changing almost everything inside except for the hood , fridge/ freezer combo the rest it’s going to go . We will be selling real Mexican burritos , tacos , pupusas , y tamales , keep it simple , and profitable with fresh ingredients , delicious food , large portions , fast , and courteous service . Most people told us you need $40 k to start with a food trailer business , we are doing under $15 grand this is the goal . Saludos desde Massachusetts.

Great job fellas!! Truck looks really good. Im looking into getting into the food truck life in the next year or two, any suggestions when it comes to looking for a truck? Also what the biggest lesson you've learned so far, when it comes to features in the truck? Would you do anything different?
@CzechSixTv

Definitely a clean build using quality components. It's amazing how many hacked together 'food trucks' you can find on Ebay or Craigslist. From wood framing supporting the counters/sinks(a big no-no) to cheap Walmart coolers set up for food storage, with asking prices that are completely ridiculous. I do have a question and a remark though. First, why did you close off the cab from the rear section? I would think the truck would get knocked down at inspection for only having a single exit(the rear) in the event of a fire. Second, as a mechanic, I would be worried about lack of airflow to the radiator due to the very large generator box blocking the grill. For short local trips it likely wont be an issue, but cruising the highway heading to an event(a food truck festival for example) it certainly may. Lastly, good luck on your endeavor. When I get back to Jersey I'll look you up to try some of your wares.

Why would you think the truck would likely get knocked down at inspection for only having a single exit? Where do you come up with these ideas?? Why would you need 2 exits? Inspectors don't care about a fire or that stuff. They have an exit, it's all they need. Maybe you'll want a men's and women's bathroom too?? They don't need these things, I don't know where you get these ideas from lol. And as far as the truck engines radiator cooling system, if you're a mechanic you should know that as long as the factory designed cooling fan draws enough airflow at idle driving in town and it doesn't overheat, then it shouldn't overheat at highway speeds either. If the airflow across the radiator is restricted then it's restricted. That means if it doesn't cool it doesn't cool. Conversely if it DOES cool at idle speeds then it will most certainly cool at highway speeds, because every mechanic knows the most critical time for a cooling system is when the engine is at idle and relying on the factory designed cooling fan to do its job. And if it does its job at idle with a large generator box in front, then it will certainly do it's job at highway speeds. It simply cannot NOT do its job at highway speeds if it's working at idle. I'm also a mechanic and fellow food truck owner. Good job guys!

@roberts5118
@roberts5118 4 жыл бұрын
I'd caution against doing that and modifying the "vehicle/chassis". In the event of a suspension leaf spring cracking and failing due to the constant heavy weight near GVW ratings, the tires can protrude into the shortened wheel well housing hitting into it possibly causing and accident but definitely damaging the lowered wheel well and food service equipment above it

How do you generate electricity for your machines? Any specific generator that you suggest?
@roberts5118
@roberts5118 4 жыл бұрын
It's the hamsters in the wheel. They generate the electricity! No really, he might've looked into hydroelectric power generation but then he'd need to be parked near a flowing river so that's out. Next he probably thought about wind powered generation but the height needed for the large wind turbine would exceed the Dept of Transportation's allowance for the 50 foot high tower. One might consider Solar powered electric generation but it's very costly and not enough surface area on the roof of the truck not to mention no power can be generated at night. Now I don't know for sure without asking him but by the process of elimination in going to guess what he uses a generator for his electric power generation. I mean he could be using thousands of dollars in batteries too but my guess and it's only a hunch, is that he uses a GENERATOR! Omg smh.
@roberts5118

Now the specific generator I would suggest, is one big enough for your machines. Kinda simple

You can build anything you want but the blueprint is to get your food/restaurant license. So you need to understand the whole picture. There's a lot to be done to become licensed and approved.
@roberts5118
@roberts5118 4 жыл бұрын
You can but a truck already built. You'd then need to draft up a floor plan of the truck and submit it for approval with your application to your states Food/Restaurant licensing department just like if you opened up a physical restaurant building. So along with that prepare to become a restaurant operator complying with all the food safety and manager courses required just as if you're running a fixed location physical restaurant building. After all, u will be a restaurant, it's just in a mobile truck. So if you think you're just going to buy or build a truck and sell food, you're wrong. You're getting into the restaurant business my friend. Just instead of a building, you have a truck. But the same regulations apply... And then some lol
